Laparoscopy advice

I had extreme pain on the first day of my period for 3 months, accompanied by a small mini period with normal cramps mid cycle and bowel movement pain. I put this down to a hormonal imbalance, I’ve always had mood swings a week prior to my period and decided to see my GP. I’ve now been on the pill for 2 constant months (no pain, no mood swings) and I’ve had an ultrasound, which revealed everything is normal but I have 3 cysts on my right ovary and was given a diagnosis of mild endometriosis by my GP. I’m due to come off the pill for a week and monitor the pain, but I haven’t been given any next steps apart from see if the pill works... I’m 24 and wondering if I should push for a laparoscopy, and ask for further information about my cysts, perhaps their size should be monitored by ultrasound every few months? I’m not sure how else to monitor disease progression. I wasn’t given their size or type, or how they’ll affect my fertility. I just want to do all I can and heed the warnings other women have given on here. I was given my diagnosis yesterday and it was a huge shock, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all

It’s good in a way that you’ve had a diagnosis, slightly weird way of looking at things I know but takes some guess work out of it. Not sure what mild means, you can have a little with pain or lots without. Is your GP referring you to gynae? This should be an endo and fertility expert. Look at the NICE guidelines and the endo UK site, these will give you info to work with as far as referrals go.

I hope all goes well. I can’t help on fertility as I’ve not had children.

thank you for your kind reply, they haven’t mentioned a referral but I’m going to push for one as my bowel movements are more painful now, it just feels like every chat with the GP is a battle but i guess we’re all in the same boat 😊

thanks again & take care

Unfortunately, it does get that way with GP, hopefully the parliament discussion will move the difficulty along.

Let us know how you get on
