I have always suspected i have had endometriosis. Typical symptoms horrendous painful periods, ovulation pain...the usual list. But the symptoms pass in 4 days when my period goes. But this time there has been a big change.
Last week I started my period abd could not physically walk unaided . The pain excruciating and has not left when I finished my period. The pain is so bad my gp thought I had a severe kidney infection. I went to a and e today as I thought the infection had got worse. I was shocked as all tests are clear!
Can endometriosis be this debilitating and come on so suddenly and stay? I don't think i can cope much longer with this pain!!
Consultant thinks it could be endo, and sent me back to my g.p for referral to gyne. I haven't had scans just bloods and urine.
Thanks for reading

I had something similar last year... had awful flank pain and wondered if it was a kidney infection but my urine came back clear.
I always had horrible pain before and after periods, but it got increasingly worse each cycle for a few months until one day, it was permenant.
Ultrasound scan don't tend to show endo unless it's 'deep-inflitrating'... Having said that scans could show others that could be causing you pain (ovarian cysts, etc) and most gynaecologists do one to rule anything else out.
I had grumbly pain over a few years,. always told IBS etc... Then one day I had such severe pain I thought I had appendicitis but it passed then returned the next day, the gp thought it was a kidney stone so sent me for an ultrasound and it turned out to be 2 big endometriomas basically sticking my ovaries together. I ended up having emergency MRI and then surgery as luckily I had private medical insurance at the time and they couldn't be 100% sure it wasn't cancer as the cysts were quite solid. After surgery they said they were pressing down on a nerve near my liver so probably they had not been as painful until they started pressing on other things. There was also other endo that was deeper in pouch of Douglas which didn't show up on any scans. Since having them removed that pain has gone and all the things I had cut out of my diet thinking I had IBS have been fine to eat. It's a very strange condition
Oh I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I hate intense pain, it’s really scary when it’s different from the norm too.
Last week I had severe pain, it was different and it seemed in a new place. It was excruciating. I thought it would go by the next day, and I woke up pain free but then when I urinated the pain came back! I started to wonder if it is interstitial cystitis as I’ve heard that affects endo sufferers. But mercifully after 4 days the pain stopped.
I guess I’m sharing this as yes the pain can come on suddenly and unexpectedly but it will calm down. A flare up always has a flare down (in my experience). I really hope yours ends soon so you can relax xx
Hi! I have actually been suffering for 2 weeks now with abdominal pain, pain in my sides and pain in my back. Also needing to urinate a lot more, especially during the night (sometimes 10-15 times) and have a fever over 38 degrees that comes and goes. Feeling very foggy headed and absolutely fatigued. So far my GP gave me antibiotics for a urine infection for 3 days. Didn’t help. So they gave me different antibiotics for 3 days. Didn’t help. Then I ended up in A&E last Wednesday because the pain was so severe. They told me I have all the signs of a kidney infection but my urine sample came back clear. They gave me antibiotics for a kidney infection for 7 days. I only have 2 days left of them and feel a bit better, but still not right. I haven’t been in work for 2 weeks because of the pain (I work long hours at a nursery, on my feet all day). Not sure what else to do!!! Xxx
