After having the coil removed in December to try for a baby I started to suffer terribly with severe stomach pains(mainly on my right side), pain during and after sex, terrible pains when going the toilet, bleeding off and on and numerous visits to the doctors and a&e I was told by 2/3 different doctors that they believe I have endometriosis. This was in July at this point I was in a&e having been sent home from work in terrible pain. I was “urgently” referred by the women’s hospital and by my doctor to 2 different hospitals to see a gynaecologist. And basically told to go back on the pill until I had an answer. At that point I couldn’t take it anymore and so went back on the pill.
I’m yet to have an appointment as I’m still on the list, so not so “urgent”. I’m 37 and I’ve decided to come back off the pill because I feel that I’m getting no younger and it’s now or never for me.
I have tried tramadol in the past but they made me sick. Is there any recommendations from anyone as to what I can try to at least try and help with the pain?

Hi I’m so sorry to read your story and know your pain! Endo is horrible and sometimes when I get a flare up so bad that medicine doesn’t touch it I feel really terrified.
All I can offer is what helps me; I find a hot bath with Epsom bath salts really takes off the edge of the pain and the panic for me.
Then hot water bottles all day and night.
I sometimes find lying down is the best option, but then some days a walk actually helps relieve a lot of the pain.
If you’re new to the endo pain there are some things that could help in the long term. Such as pelvic physiotherapy (this helped me with my pain going to the toilet), acupuncture, reflexology help so much.
Dietary changes are always recommended by specialists, things like gluten cause pelvic inflammation so cutting that out (and other inflammatory foods) could really help too.
Finally, have you heard about BSGE which is site to find a specialist endometriosis consultant in the U.K. (well, mainly England). Some people pay for a private appointment, you’re looking at £200 for an hour. But it’s so worth it to speak to someone who knows what you’re going through and can offer a proper treatment path for you.
Thanks so much for ur advice right now it’s a case of trying anything to help with the pain and get through every day. I’ll have a look into that site definitely as waiting for this appointment appears to be non existent. Thanks again xx
I just found the website for the specialist in my area (via the BSGE website) called their reception and asked how to get an appointment with them. They advised I had to go to my gp and ask them to write a letter of referral. Once I had a letter of referral I called the phone number to the specialist hospital reception and booked in a private appointment with the specialist, I had to bring the letter with me in order for the appointment to go ahead.
