Excruciating headaches

Hi, I'm waiting to see gynae for suspected returned endo!

Since Thursday I have had the worst headaches I've ever experienced! They literally wake me up early hours of the morning, stay for about 6 hours then pass again till the next day!

Has anyone ever known a link between endo and headaches? I'm being seen in Ambulatory tomorrow and they said I'll probably see a neurologist!

Thanks

Hi Joanne-L

I suffer with killer headaches and migraines and they are linked to endometriosis. It is to do with the flux in hormone level I think. I went through a period of about 3 months when I was having a 2 or 3 day migraine every week. My gyne said that it was the coil which I had removed and it helped a little. I still get regular headaches but maybe have a migraine only twice a month.

I bought a hangover face mask that you but in the fridge and honestly it helps soo much!

xx

I used to wake up with horrendous headaches, it was about the same time this started, but didn’t know. Took a sleep test, hired a machine for a few nights, and confirmed sleep apnoea, now using CPAP. Haven’t woken up with headaches since. An ENT consultant in the US thinks there could be a link with hormones and potentially Endo and apnoea. If I made that suggestion to GP I know I’d get a look of ‘really!’ 😂.

I only mentioned sleep apnoea to GP once I’d had the results back because I knew they’d dismiss it. Even in the referral letter he wasn’t convinced.

Yes I’ve had really bad headaches over the years too and since I’ve been diagnosed with endo realise it’s connected - they get really bad before my period. I’ve cut out sugar and caffeine and this really seems to help as they are inflammatory foods. I also mainly follow an anti inflammatory diet and headaches are now so much better.

I’ve also found that I grind my teeth in my sleep and I think this is to do with all the anxiety from my health issues - worth noting if this is something you do - you will notice if there are little tooth groove marks on your tongue - this causes me to have headaches

After attending Ambulatory, the doctor did bloods and my iron and red blood cells were dangerously low! Hence getting the headaches! 2 iron transfusions later and the headaches have stopped!!! :D
