So around 20% of people have a retroverted uterus. It can happen naturally. Or sometimes it can be caused by things like endometriosis, causing adhesions between the uterus and the bowel, which pulls the uterus back into that position.

I have a retroverted uterus, but mine isn't caused by endo. Had surgery and nothing was making it that way. So I'm just part of the population that has this naturally occurring.

I have endo and a 'backwards womb' I've seen online that people are more likely to have it if their wombs are tilted but I'm not sure how true it is x

yes!!! ive heard that tilted uterus does not mean endo but a lot of the time if youre having symptoms its highly likely.

I also have a retroverted one.. my specialist said that it is very common that women with endo will also have a retroverted womb / uterus

Hello.

I have stage 4 endometriosis and I have a retroverted uterus.

It is pulled back with dense adhesions and attached to the bowel.

They’ve freed it in all my operations but each time the disease has returned and made it retro flex again. Just had mri results last week confirming it’s happened again.

I’d imagine you are in a hell of a lot of pain too and I know the struggle it is to get doctors to listen and actually receive a diagnosis. Took me 13 years and by time diagnosed was infertile and now pain every day. Angry with the medical professionals who dismissed me is an understatement.

I hope you get the treatment and pain relief you deserve soon.

Best wishes to you xxx

So frustrating,

im 21 years old, healthy other wise....

periods like clockwork just in so much pain each month.

ive been in a serious relationship with someone for two years. eventually want to start a family. god i am so afraid of the process that might be in my future. Noone in my family has ever had any issues conceiving. none have endo, none have ever had cancer & if anything they are the most fertile people in the world lol. it makes me so sad to think theres a good chance i could need help getting pregnant :(

Hello. I always had bad period pains but didn’t realise I had endo until quite late and managed to conceive naturally. I have a lovely daughter, so don’t give up hope. Obviously lots of women with endo have difficulty getting pregnant but plenty of people are able to do so too. It’s good that you have a diagnosis early, so you know what you’re dealing with. Good luck and best wishes for the future! X

Yes but it can happen naturally this is only a term for a uniquely positioned uterus and it can happen over time with endo I wasn’t born with one but now have one

Hello,

Yes i have one too and been told it is due to scar tissue and rectovaginal endo pulling the uterus backwards. Hope you get your diagnosis soon xx

Endo and tilted uterus here 🙋🏼‍♀️there is also a very small amount of research about a correlation of the gap between the vulva and the anus on women with endo, apparently ours is a smaller gap.

I’ll dig it out it’s fascinating and yet again proof that this isn’t caused by retrograde mensuration as they would like us to believe, we are all born with these cells.
