Has anyone been told they have a retroverted (tilted) uterus?

Yes...I've got a retroverted uterus. It was first discovered when I had an ultrasound during investigations which eventually ended up in my endo diagnosis.

Thanks Dixie, like you mine was discovered during ultrasound, and although informed it is quite common, 1 in ten women, and not a problem or issue, I can't help but wonder if it has any bearing on my chronic lower back pain. I am on a cocktail of meds now including Oramorph, and stiil the pain fights through. Where was your endo found? Did you have any pain specific to tilted uterus?

Thanks fatefulserendipity, I know this is quite common, 1 in ten women according to the sonographer who found it, and doesn't generally cause problems, but wondering if you have had any pain relating to it, and if you have had Lap etc, was there any Endo involved around or on it?

I have too..yes was seen on an ultrasound scan. Women with retroverted uterus suffer from endometriosis more than others. My mum and my sisters have the same,but fortunately they don't have endometriosis.

thank you neal07, have you any problems relating to it? Any pain? Where did you read about it being more common for women with it to suffer Endo?

Although undiagnosed, I feel I am more likely to have it now that you have told me this, and the fact my mother has it, apparently you are seven times more likely to have it if you have a mother or sister who does

I have that too, not sure what it means but was told its no big deal by the woman who did one of my scans, but then other doctors say it can be an issue xx

Thanks worth71, yes, the sonographer did say it's no big deal, about 1 in 10 women have it and doesn't cause any issues. It's just that my chronic Lower back pain makes me wonder if my tilted uterus is giving me problems, as so far, nothing else has been found to explain my pain. xxx

Yeah most women who have it, have it from either pelvic inflamatory disease or endometriosis scarring. It's not a problem but it will make having a child a bit harder from the endo as well. Though that's not that commen so I wouldnt worry. I have one from suspected endo.

Thanks samanthac, that's what the sonographer said, and I did have PID many years ago from infected coil. I have a 20 year old son and no longer wish for children so not an issue for me, but worrying for those TTC.

You say you have one from suspected Endo, would you mind telling me more about this please, I am convinced I have Endo there. Did/do you suffer any Lower Back Pain, that nagging, dragging, dull, ache I have always associated as period pain?

I am suffering from endometriosis and have tilted uterus, but I dont understand why the consultant didn't uplift my uterus as I did some research and its possible to uplift it through laparoscopy, if ti can reduce the chances of endometriosis reoccuring then it may well save life time suffering and endless surgeries. I have been researching on endometriosis and apparently it could a risk factor for endometriosis, but why the doctors don't bother repairing it I really don't understand.

I'm going to get second opinion elsewhere to find out if I could have this surgery as I really don't want to suffer with endometriosis all my life, im in my ealry 30s so long time before my periods would stop and its just too much pain after laparoscopy.

I have a tilted uterus also. It showed up on early pregnancy scan I had. This was over 10 yrs ago and I have only just been diagnosed sept 2012 with endo, which is now stage 4 and extensive! In fact my lovely tilted uterus is stuck to my endo covered bowel and cannot have hysterectomy because of it

I am yet to be diagnosed, but convinced of Endo, my mum has it and now the tilted uterus. Along with all the symptoms I have been suffering chronic lower back pain (every day for four months) and since finding out during scan about tilted uterus, am now wondering if that could be the cause of my pain.

I am on a cocktail of cocodomol, buscopan, tramadol and diclofenac supps. and now Oramorph Just want this sorted, I need pain controlled so I can get back to work, I can't manage on SSP

Do any of you suffer with lower back pain, and how would you describe it? xxx

I'm in this group, in 2010 one of my surgeons tried to reposition/unstick but it' didn't last long back tilted and severely stuck now

I have one too and have had it for years. I have just been diagnosed with Adenomyosis a few months ago and have been put on Cetravette. I'm not happy with the mood swings I'm having and want to look into alternative medicine to try & aleviate the symptoms. Am due to go back to the doctor at the end of February and so will mention it to her. It's mainly the pain I suffer during my periods and the total lack of energy that gets to me the most. Has anyone tried alternative medicine? xx

Me too tilt called mid high receoteole (unsure of spelling) can be caused by scar tissue pulling it out of line connected with endo. Anyone else have mid high receoteole? I don't know much about this and would like to know more.

Me too, mine was stuck down to my bowel and found when I had my first lap, took 4.5 hours of surgery to split everything apart and remove a dermoid cyst x

Thank you hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions. Did you have ultrasound before Lap, if so, what was the outcome, was it evident then that your uterus was stuck down to your bowel, or was it only found through a Lap? Where and what was your pain like? Did you have lower back pain? Sorry so many question, just trying to find out as much as I can so I am armed when I "eventually" see my consultant again. I had my first appointment on 13th Dec, and my doctor is STILL waiting for the report!! That's seven weeks ago and I am not only disgusted and appalled, but emotionally weak and now on morphine for the pain.
