Has anyone else taken food and drink with them to the hospital? I don’t wanna look like a twat bringing a bag of food and drink 😂😂
Hi,

Hi i hope you are okay. Yeah I take my own food in. I don't see why not lol. More so snacks and drinks. 😁X
I’m ok, very scared. Like my operation last year my mum come with me and my partner and if I needed anything they went to shop for me but this year because of coronavirus I can’t have anyone with me so I’m like well I’m going to have to take some Pepsi max with me 😂😂😂 xx
What op are you having? Ah Pepsi max is the best lol. I took 6 little bottles in with me you know the ones that cost about a pound or so. X
I’ve always taken food for other people when they’ve been in. If I was going to be for any length I would. I didn’t bother in Feb as I wasn’t really eating much anyway.
I did the same thing when I had my laparoscopy... Hospital food is rank anyway 😂 good luck with your surgery 🤞💕
Yeah I bought my own bottles of water in as they tend to only give you a cup at a time and I just learnt to bring my own as you have a very dry mouth and sore throat for a few days after surgery.
My first op I didn’t have any water and struggled a bit lol.
Also bought packets of biscuits and things in which I was glad I did as was starving after anaesthetic wore off after having to fast prior to surgery.
Good luck to you xxx
Just had a thought if you are having a Lap then you know they pump you with air, which usually causes painful gas until it disperses so wouldn't drinking Pepsi max make things worse🤔
Good luck 🍀
Hi Xroisinèllenx,
You are brave to go through your lap by yourself. I am not a med practitioner and this is only from my own perspective as I have been there many times already.
During lap the doctors would put some air in your belly so they can see well inside. Carbonated drinks can make you feel bloated and may be heavy on your stitches. So i suggest that you take it easy on that. Water would do great coz the throat can be really dry after lap. And any drinks with vit c like orange juice would help relieve you with the after-procedure-pain from anaesthesia. Biscuits and boiled eggs would help you pass gass faster so you will know that your insides are still intact and working well before they send you home.
I hope these helps. And as always we - your endo warrior sisters, are here when you need us.
In hindsight, I would have taken my decaff coffee with me, also my gluten free biscuits and I did think, but didn't dare, I should have made a thermos of hot chocolate made with coconut milk as I react to gluten, dairy, soya. Good luck.
I took lots of food and drink with me. Glad I did as the hospital didn’t even have hot chocolate as an option. I just gave them my hot choc sachet and asked them to make it me. I took cans of coke in and downed one as soon as I was on the ward. A large burp afterwards but then didn’t suffer from any gas pain.
