Bad periods, discharge, pain?

Hi all, this is my first post and I'm just wondering if anyone has any clue what could be going on with me.

I have been to the doctors a couple of times with the issues below and but they haven't helped at all. I have another appointment in a couple of weeks.

I currently have the contraceptive implant which is due to be taken out in January 2021 as it runs out. (This is my second implant and haven't had any issues with it). For the past 6 months my periods have been getting worse in the sense of heaviness, pain and regularity. I'm having a period every fortnight, they're heavy and there are more clots than I usually have. I've had painful periods before but I've had days where I have to curl up as it is excruciating. I'm also having (sorry for the TMI) 'period diarrhoea' as such. Also, a pain that has only started in the last few months is in my groin area and it HURTS. It's like someone has kicked me and feels so bruised.

I've also had discharge in the short break between periods, it's a yellowish green colour, no particular bad smell but a smell of some sort, kind of egg whitey/sticky? I have done an STI test and completely negative. I've done a thrush and BV home treatment (separately) but it still persists.

Does anyone have any clue what is going on or has had any similar symptoms?

Not to be invasive or crude, but have you been having (vaginal) sex? I have experienced a very similar thing recently. Since being diagnosed with endometriosis doctors have often told me that vaginal discharge between periods, including spotting and the type you have described here, can be due to penetrative sexual intercourse. The discharge isnt anything to worry about, but if you are also experiencing groin pains you may need to speak to your partner about how you can have sex in either a more gentle way, or in a way that best suits your needs. Trying different positions, such as 'cowgirl' and 'doggy' can reduce pain in your pelvic floor and groin area, as you have control of speed and depth. This has helped me with my groin pain.

For the severity of your periods, have you considered moving to the combined pill after removing the coil? I found this much more effective, as whilst taking the pill it can reduce pain, but importantly you know when the pain is coming. You can 'book in' your period so to speak, so that you can give yourself the time to have the pain and manage it. It helped me bring down the number of days of bleeding significantly - from about 8-9 days to 3-4, which I make sure comes at a weekend so I don't have to work when it is most severe.

I agree with princess farmer around the sex stuff!

My body seems to get used to and basically reject and bleed anyway and for weeks and weeks at a time, when I’ve been on a contraceptive for ages that has worked really well - it’s almost like it’s gotten used to it and rebelled. Maybe it’s time to try a new contraceptive option that might help, and speak to a gynae again? X
