Hi all,

Does anyone suffer with constipation? I’m suffering for the past couple of days, tmi but I just can’t go, I’ve taken some herbal Senna tablets, and I’ve managed to go a little bit, but not properly!

What does everyone else do when suffering?

Thanks all x

Hello! Ive had this issues for years, not sure what causes it I been up to 5 weeks without a bowel movement, I'm only 21 but I really cant go! I eat prunes with a glass of orange juice. I have fibrous cereal, drinking lots of water in general. for medicine I take laxido (tastes like salt water so I mix it with squash) In the most I've had fybeogel (this only works for a few weeks with me then stops.) Senna, lactolose the whole lot lol. I take peppermint capsules for any bloating I might get. It is important to keep eating to keep the bowels exercising and working to push stools down. I try stomach massages before bed with a glass of water and hope for the best.

Sorry I still trying to figure out what works for me, so don't have much info. Good luck it is very cruel! any changes than the usual including bowel habits, bloating, sickness ect be best to contact GP :) x

Movicol is fab when it’s bad. Then I also like nicjane find fybrogel sometimes works, lactulose, lots of water is helpful.

I also have Mebeverine for the bloating that comes with it

Have you tried buscopan.....have to be careful if your taking other meds especially codeine they don't mix....but it can sometimes help relax bowels a bit for things to get moving. Try putting something under your feet when your on toilet so your knees are higher up...sounds bit odd but the position is better for your bowels to open and can make things move bit easier.

If your still having probs after a few days and this isn't your normal it would be best to get checked out by GP.

take care

Lactulose is good a small bit every morning and evening as well as triphula tablets (you can get on them on amazon) helps regular the movements. I find you need to eat way more fruit and veg than an average person! Good luck x

I've had problems with constipation for a long time. Laxido seems to help (more than fybogel did for me). I still have issues but it's far worse without it. I have it on repeat prescription now 😂

I also find regular exercise helps. hope things improve for you.

Speak to GP, they are in a much better position to advise.

I take Laxido (for bowels working) and lactulose (soften). I’ve found the combination better.

My cervix presses against my colon, especially during my monthly, so I feel like I need to "go" all the time & it confuses my bowels, so I'm never actually sure when I really do need the toilet. Another crampy experience though.

I find that dried apricots are fab for keeping things moving. & also drink just water instead of fruit juice, because all the sugar in juice reduces the amount of fluid that actually reaches the colon, to soften stools.

(must look like a loon, but who's watching? When I sit on the loo, I make sure my feet are slightly raised, so that my knees are at least on a level with my bum & I find that leaning my body round in circles helps to stimulate the bowels into action).

Best wishes

I've experienced this recently, I found that drinking lots of water, massaging the abdomen ( you can google this there a ways of doing it for constipation) and doing some slow gentle squats helped sort me out. The squats were great, never thought of doing it before but it does make sense, nothing exhausting or fast, just 15-20 gentle squats. It's really awful though and I completely sympathise, my endo pains get much worse worse when I need to go, so needing to go but not being able to is not fun! x

A bowl of porridge made with koko milk with added chia seeds. Flax seeds are good too. Psyllium husks which are basically fybogel. Chia seeds are great at getting things moving as they swell up and push things through. Add them to whatever u can. X

Hello, I get this allllllll the time, I take Laxido sachets. They seem to do the job, they help to soften the stool, making it easier to pass. I do still get the constipation pains however.

But I take PRN oramorph when this happens, as it’s the only analgesic that works for myself. I also drink pure orange juice when I start to feel those niggles coming on.

I do know of someone who takes buscopan, which she cleared with her dr first. So might be worth having a chat with your dr to see what they recommend :)

I hope you can find something that can work for you.
