I just wondered how endometriosis affect your sleep? How many hours, on average, do you sleep during 24 hours?
I have always been a big sleeper. But my endometriosis pain and symptoms have been making me feel more and more fatigued over the last few years.
During furlough and time off work: I tend to sleep 9pm-10am and then have a nap 1-3. So that’s 15 hours a day on average.
When I am working: I tend to sleep 9pm-6am and then struggle horrendously with fatigue for the first few hours of the day and then again during the afternoon. That’s 9 hours a day average.
I currently work in a nursery, so I’m on my feet and standing up, sitting down on tiny child chairs or sat cross legged on the floor a LOT.
I am nearly qualified as a therapeutic counsellor and that role enables me to be sat down much more and is a lot less physical and accommodating. So I think it will help when I am fully qualified in a few months and hopefully get a job doing some sort of counselling.
But is it normal to sleep that much and need that much sleep? Is it a common things with endometriosis? I have had my blood tested many times over the years and everything seems to be fine there. I’m worried about how much I am sleeping now, whilst I’m shielding and furloughed, and transitioning back to working full time. I thought it would be interesting to gain a bigger picture of how many hours we each tend to sleep on average each day.
Lots of love to you all. Stay safe. X

I am exactly the same. I really struggle to cope through a day without at least 9 hours sleep and I can easily sleep 12+ hours when I don’t have to be up for anything.
Finding it quite hard for the doctors to connect exhaustion to my endometriosis though, even though it’s a well known symptom.
I sleep about 10-12 hours each night. I wake up shattered. Been after all of this sleep. I also have fibromyalgia so that doesn’t help. I think the blood loss plays a big part in us having to sleep a lot more than maybe the average well person x
I work in retail and find it really hard to stay awake, I only do 16 hrs a week but got to bed around 10-11pm and then not waking up until about 10am and then starting wrk at 2pm and feel tired by 3/4 even though I only do 4 hrs a day..
I’m currently on 100mg of tramadol 3 x a day so this probably explains a lot
I’ve got sleep apnoea, I’ve not been drowsy during the day with it, but used to snore, wake with worst headaches and struggle to get going waking up at times. The endo is definitely confusing things though as it’s keeping me awake more and then lie down pm as you’ve mentioned.
Do you know if you’ve had test for Vit D, this can help. It’s not a vitamin as such and is more hormone.
Fatigue was probably one of my earliest symptoms of Endo before I knew I had it. I have always needed alot of sleep, find it hard to function on less than 9 and can easily sleep 10+ if I don't need to get up. I have found frequent exercise had managed by exercise levels but that obviously isn't always possible with the painx
