No risk if infected by covid19

I've just read an article stating that we're not at any increased risk should we catch this virus. Whilst not scaremongering, I find this highly improbable, given endometriosis is an inflammatory disease, the continued response by the immune system to this, meaning a cytokine storm is more likely, should this virus be contracted. It has already been documented that those with inflammatory conditions fare less well with the virus. I also don't feel confident that the immune system in us sufferers could attack the virus, given it doesn't even recognise that displaced endometrial cells need destroying, and in fact encourages them to grow. In addition, it's likely that those with endometriosis, myself included, carry extra weight, another risk factor, as a result of both the condition and the side effects of medication used to manage symptoms.

Am I right to be concerned?

I have seeked reassurance by reading the Endometriosis UK Web site re Covid 19. I believe you must go and do what is right for you. The realised factors for being vulnerable to this virus is age, obesity, and underlying health issues. I fall into one of those categories so will take precautions when meeting friends for the 1st time in months.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, take care. I just find it hard to get my head around. I've also been extra cautious and have practically been, to all intents and purposes, shielding these last 3 months. A friend and neighbour of mine in his 50s died from the virus, no underlying conditions, although he was slightly overweight.

Oh sorry to hear that can understand your anxiety, the problem is directly Covid 19 is put on a death cert. there is no post mortum therefore I do not think we will ever know the exact number of people who have died from this terrible virus or from an unknown health issue which contributed to the death. I just pray that our NHS can save more lives with the new knowledge they have🙏
