I was simply wondering if I could ask others experience of Depo Provera injections? It’s my last option before another surgery to hopefully reduce my ongoing pain. What side effects are commonly experienced? Thank you so very kindly! E x

Hi I’ve been in the depo injection for nearly 2 years this has stopped my periods but still get bad pains however it worked at first for me but then more recently having the pains back again after my surgery last year so I would give it a go and if it doesn’t suit you then come off it x
Thank you for your reply Lou93 and for taking the time to share your experience. That’s reassuring to hear, I haven’t tried it, so until I do, I am never to know. It may just be the right treatment for me. Time will tell! Did you experience side effects? My consultant just stated ‘bloating and headaches’. Take care E x
No problem at all I tried it years ago and didn’t work as well for me but this time around has stopped my awful periods so I hope it helps you, I do get some headaches but not that bad just now and again but overall I would say stopping my periods is the main thing for me. Weight gain tends to happen on anything I’ve tried and I’ve tried all sorts over the years x
Hi there, I was previously on depo for around 2 years. It was great for about 9 months, however then I had consistent spotting / clotting which resulted in pain. However for the good 9 months that I had of it, I would recommend.
I was on depo for about 6 months last year. I thought it would work okay as I'd taken it before with no problems.
It made my pain worse and gave me lots of spotting (so annoying, I'd rather have had a proper period and be done with it). I was also peeing a lot in the night (6+ times) so I wasn't sleeping properly either.
Anyway I stopped taking it and went on the combined pill, which works a lot better for me. Of course, everyone is different and it may work well for you. Sometimes it is a bit of trial and error.
Hi I am provera tablets 3 times a day. They work better for me than the injection which wore off before the next injection was due. Daily tablets keeps me pain and period free. I recommend it
