Hot flushes 4 months after decapeptyl?

Hi ladies hoping someone has had a similar experience and maybe able to help?

I had my lap for stage 4 endo cancelled( as we all have I guess), I had a 3 month decapeptyl jab 4 months ago.

Curious as to others symptoms, initially my side effects were horrible, moody, suicidal and flushes. It all calmed down but now im getting lots of hot flushes, more than before. Mostly at night but in the day too.

Surgeon called wanted me to have another decapeptyl as they are looking at scheduling surgeries again but they don't have a date so I've said no, not until we have a date. I haven't told gp or surgeon about these late hot flushes.

Surely they should have stopped by now and my period should return?

Or am i in permenant menopause now? I've not bled since the injection. Has this happened to anyone else? Periods not returned after decapeptyl? It has helped with the endo pain but the hot flushes are getting very annoying now.

Would the pill help?

And Would they let me have it before my lap?

Thanks ladies

Hi, sorry to hear you aren't feeling great. I don't have experience (yet) with decapeptyl, but I mostly read stories like yours :-( I have been asked to take a 3 month course before surgery in September (bowel resection is involved and they want lesions calmed before they work near nerves which affect my bowel, bladder and vagina). I've suffered with anxiety and ocd for years, it's really well managed now and I'm good but the fear of feeling depressed or worse is terrifying me.

I know that it does take your body a little longer than others to clear the effects of some drugs, obviously you will have been told to do things like stay super hydrated right now, but also have you tried taking a B complex, even Berocca, to help your nervous system. I swear by it in general when I feel the stress level creep up.

Did you take anything like bush remedy for women (homeopathy) during your time on injection(s) as it's been mentioned to me?

Stay well, keep your head up, I think the last few months have placed all of us into an incredibly stressful mindset anyway, it can't be helping when feeling unwell.

Thanks edon

Mine is around my bowel too. I think im going to go for the monthly injections next time, the 3 month one was too much. Might be an option for you?

I take b's and have tried epo and the flushes seem to be less frequent and less intense, but i have felt the endo symtoms starting again so i guess the 3 month decapeptyl wearing off a bit now. hopefully.

You have a date for your surgery? was that arranged before covid?

Hi yes thanks so much for that, I had same thought yesterday. Surely monthly would be better idea, if only psychologically :-) so I know if month 1 is awful, I could consider not continuing, rather than stuck with a 3 month dose slowly wearing off.

It will ultimately be out of your system by now as a drug, but your natural levels of oestrogen are just climbing back up now having been switched off as such. Until they would return to normal, the side effects could hang around and your bleeds may not start properly.

Re: my surgery, I am from and back living in Ireland so things are a bit different here. We have had cancellations of elective stuff, but slowly starting again and surgeon has me penciled in for September, fingers crossed. A lot more people have private health insurance here than in UK as have a public system but it's not same as NHS. Private waits aren't as bad as in other places, depending on the surgeons. But I lived in the UK for 9 years until 2018 so am used to the process there. Fingers crossed for you!

I'd probably be same as you on your having more injections, if you knew you had date you have goal and can put up with side effects etc., but if it could be pushed again....another 3/6 months, maybe I'd ask for another approach in interim.
