Hi All

Please could anybody advise how they dealt or are dealing with the menopause ( I have had a total abdominal hysterectomy - no ovaries, so a forced surgical menopause . ) .Im 45 .Not allowed HRT, I would lovr to hear from those suffering with hot flushes, seriously disturbed sleep etc . I’m off work at present due to the operation but this will be changing when I have to return - no naps for me in the day ! Any suggestions - herbal medicines, daily rituals , would be great!

I can’t help on do’s and don’t re hysterectomy, I’ve possibly got that to come. Why aren’t you allowed HRT?

There are various herbal remedies, one that was quite popular when I worked in health shop was Black Cohosh. It might be worth speaking to a herbalist, they can give a better idea based on conditions, meds etc.

Thank you. I had my hysterectomy nearly 7 weeks ago , my endometriosis was severe. Although the adhesions were removed from bowel, bladder, they were also over my ovaries and Fallopian tubes which were going to be removed anyway. (I had cysts and polyps) The endometriosis needs chance to Fully regress. There is a chance that HRT can reactivate it and will only be a very last option if the menopause is unbearable . It does come with risk. As it stands, I am managing okay so would like to go the holistic route - not that I have much of choice but certainly not in a position whereby life is unbearable - the hot sweats are just a little tough occasionally and sleep is so broken ! I miss being able to sleep all night
