Is my contraceptive implant causing my ovarian cyst?

I have been to the doctors on multiple occasions due to ongoing, on and off pelvic pains. The pains are never horrific, they are more like a dull ache and usually occur mid cycle.

However I was worried it could be endometriosis, which I know left untreated can lead to fertility struggles. I’m only 22 but I know I want kids one day.

After ongoing tests including two ultrasounds the gyno concluded the pains were due to an ovarian cyst that comes and goes. She said the cyst was a simple cyst and nothing to be concerned about. When I mentioned my concerns about endometriosis, she said although she cannot rule it out completely (due to an operation being the only official diagnosis), she said she was sure it wasn’t endo. I am going back in a few weeks to get it looked at again.

In regard to the simple cyst I know they occur due to the failure to ovulate and failure to release an egg. I don’t ever recall getting these pains before I went on the implant and the implant is effected by preventing ovulation.

Could my contraception be the cause to my pains or is it just a coincidence?
