I had the mirena fitted in February and I'm getting days of flare ups. The pain is still on a level it was before my laparoscopy in January and I feel horrendous. I keep getting bouts of spots all along my cheeks and jaw line and I've never suffered with spots.
How long did your body take to settle down once you had mirena fitted?

Hi Fraser1, in the exact same situation as you. I had my laparoscopy and Mirena fitted in January too.
I’ve never had spots this bad. Lots on the sides of my face and jawline/neck and I’ve nearly gained a stone in weight! Cramping is less often but is as bad as pre-surgery when my period is due.
My gynaecologist said it should settle after 3 months, but reading some of the comments on here sounds like it could be more around 6 months. I think I will try and persevere as there aren’t many other treatments other than the Mirena. I’d be interested to hear other people’s advise on side affects, pain relief and if/how they made the decision get it removed.
Sorry I’ve not actually been able to help you but I wanted to respond to let you know you’re not alone! A hot water bottle and ibuprofen are helping me at the moment
It is a help knowing I'm not alone and that it's nothing out of the ordinary.
It's getting to me at the minute having so many bad days I'm beginning to regret having the mirena fitted but I guess I have to see it through, it's just horrible thinking if I hadn't had it would I be having this many bad days.
I'm keeping track of it all tough and I should hopefully be seeing my consultant in July.
I hope you are doing OK and getting there slowly but surely!!
