Change to Diet

Hi folks! I got so fed up with daily pain I went for a bit of a bold approach and cut sugar, alcohol, gluten and caffeine. Definitely helped with the pain. Has any one else tried this? What's been your experience? I'm looking to introduce these items back in slowly now to see which ones cause my pain, if any. xxx

I found reducing those definately helps.

Have you tried reducing dairy too - I have noticed with mine specifically it's milk, yoghurt and cheese is still okay in limited amounts.

Switch to almond / rice non gluten stuff as quite often non gluten is soy which doesn't go well with endo.

Introduce a little of one thing back each month but focus on say for gluten just one bread. It can take up to 4 to 6 weeks as endo is cyclical to notice if removing / adding stuff changes things.

For me I noticed my pain levels were less with reduced caffeine and sugar, so I naturally went healthier and reduced wheat and dairy too. During my endo flareups (week of my period) both gluten and dairy make my pain worse and oh the bloating - so I cut those out completely during that week.

For non gluten check out Mrs Crimbles cakes and savoury stuff!

For non gluten, healthy and vegan chocolate check out Doisy and Dam chocolate, and Mommy Meagz rocky road!

For super healthy and natural check out Nakd fruit and nut bars - you can make your own similar like protein bombs!

Yeah I have a sweet tooth :P

Oh and ordering healthier / snacks online is brilliant as it's so much cheaper than supermarkets. Making stuff from scratch is awesome too. Check out the group on health unlocked: Gluten Free Guerrillas, some amazing helpful people :)

Like Farahzia, I completely changed my diet since May last year. I am now free from :gluten, dairy, soya (its a big culprit, causes me lots of pain and acute digestive problems), coffee, chocolate, brown rice, apples, and due to interstitial cystitis tomato purée and hot spices. It has made a massive difference in terms of bloating, pains, feeling generally unwell. I eat gluten free pasta and bread, rice, quinoa, potatoes and sweet potatoes. Also very dark chocolate (but often contains milk and soya) or vegan chocolate. I also supplement with magnesium glycenate, zinc, vitamin D, iron. We incorporate my regimen in the family meals so that I don't feel isolated which can have a negative psychological effect. I have not cut on meat due to long-term anaemia. From other ladies' posts, some react to alcohol. Hope you find the diet that helps you. 😊
