Mefenamic acid : Hi anyone else on this... - Endometriosis UK
Mefenamic acid
Hello Hannah,
I've used mefenamic acid tablets and they have never made me feel hungover. It's not a known side effect, either.
Hi Hannah,
I’m on Mefenamic Acid and I’ve never experienced this. Could it perhaps be a different medication reacting with it? The only drugs I’ve really had that made me feel like that was Amitriptyline and I had to stop that as it also brought on migraines x
I didn't get that feeling. I was taking 1 x 3 times per day with food. Doc also prescribed me omeprazole with it to protect my gut.
Hi Hannah!
I was on Mefenamic Acid for 3 years and never felt hungover from it, but I did develop Acid Reflux-like symptoms from taking it
Hello
I have used this but no hungover side effects. It just didn’t do what it was meant to do for me.
Are you taking other tablets which could have effected how your body reacts to this menefemic acid?
Xx
Check the leaflets to see if it's a listed side effect. If it's something your struggling to cope with speak to your Dr. If you're on other medication it could be those instead of the reaction to between 2 different ones.
I took this for about 6yrs before my hysterectomy but never had this as a side effect, they helped me so much with pain though. Xx
Thank you for all the reply’s it really helps with the pain!! But sadly yes it makes me feel very groggy going to speak to my GP about it next week 👍 x
I took this for a few weeks or a month or so last year and I had to stop as it left me feeling like I was having an asthma attack and I got really dizzy, they also didn't help with the pain whatsoever x
That’s odd - mefanamic acid is closely related to ibuprofen. It’s not the kind to have that effect! I’ve never experienced anything like it on mefanamic acid. I wonder if there’s another reason, perhaps you’re run down or feeling the effects of the endo inflammation, or coming down with a cold or a migraine. I sometimes get a hangover from eating food high in sodium (usually takeaways). xx
