Severe pain four weeks post hysterectomy

Hi there

I wondered if anyone can help. I had a full hysterectomy and a lot of endometriosis growths removed from my left side pelvic area/bowel and bladder area four weeks this Saturday.

I am experiencing excruciating pain in my left side particularly when I’m standing up and walking about. I was readmitted back to hospital a week after returning home due to this pain which they said was an infection and put me on antibiotics. I am still in such much pain with it. My family keep telling me to call the consultant and seek advice but I do not want to seem like I’m a pest. The pain is so severe it’s making me feel so down and in complete agony all the time, the pain is literally reducing me to tears.

Has anyone else ever experienced something similar post surgery - if so how long did it last? I really thought it would be over once I had the operation.

Ring your consultant - it is not been a pest. They are the only one who truly knows whats been done and any repercussions.

Hi Lisa, I wanted to check you’re ok. I too suffered horrific pain after my hysterectomy and it turned out that my ureter was damaged during surgery. I’m still having follow up procedures now.

Hi lisa, i totally understand how you feel. I had my operation on Monday 9th March nearly 3 weeks ago. I too ended up back in hospital they put me on 2 lots of antibiotics. The course finished last week im still in pain, its getting me down so frustrating going through all this and ending up in more pain. Im due back to see my consultant in 3 weeks i might phone then next week if it continues. I think we need to see a endometriosis specialist i don't think they know much about this disease. Good luck.
