Was TTC 5 years & 10 months until I got diagnosed with endometriosis in June 2017.
Chemical pregnancy after first lap.
Second lap March 2018.
Third lap July 2018 with endo surgeon.
We conceived our daughter 2 months post 3rd lap & Francesca arrived June.
Since then my endo has started playing up. My periods are getting heavier & clotty.
This morning I had what I can only describe as a spasm similar to labour; I had to put my daughter down and I was rolling around in agony screaming. It was only a short time but was awful.
I am going to look into my diet & cut dairy etc out. I am also taking Serrapeptase as I heard it can help scar tissue?
I don’t know what to or who to contact- GPS know very little knowledge on endo & would tell me to go on the pill which gains weight & I’m still struggling to lose baby weight. And I expect them to be like it’s a chronic health condition what to I expect?! I had an awful time with medics leading up to my diagnosis which has given me health anxieties with seeing any medics.
We also would like to try for a sibling for our daughter at some point but feeling deflated as it feels like my endo is back & is a non starter. It was the only issue that caused infertility it took us 7 years to conceive our daughter.
I’m also seeing a gynaecologist for post birth complications next month. I feel pretty overwhelmed...
Hi jess I’m so sorry your feeling overwhelmed and have some anxiety I understand the frustration of trying to get answers I’ve had it long enough. I’ve had those labour pains you describe! at the minute I just take it as one of those symptoms of endo I feel if I did tell the g.p they wouldn’t have a clue what to do like you said other than put you on the pill.if it’s so bad to a point you can’t manage it I would say go back to the g.p then at least the information is their for them to consider next steps.the first thing I noticed with endo was clottier periods! they could offer you another lap if you wanted it since you want to conceive aswell they may consider it if that’s what you wanted? I know after my misscarrige the endo pain was worse I can only say that this must of been some sort of hormone imbalance as it had me in agony !I know you have been through a lot already !in my case the fact I wanted to conceive was put first my specialist pointed out since I want to conceive excision should be done as it’s only recently for you they may not want to offer it just yet and advice you to keep ttc wishing you well at this hard time x
I think you are right- first I’ll attend my gynae appt (over birth complications), try to “manage endo”, if I can’t might have to go back to the GP for referral for another lap ( I’ve already had 3🙄)my endo was worse after my chemical pregnancy so sorry for your loss. I’ve got to return to work in April so won’t be looking at TTC till after then. Some people would think we’d be mad to want try again after what we went through to get Francesca... 😐
endo is horrible & is not understood by the medical profession. It’s very frustrating!
How are you getting on? Did you get a referral to the specialist? xxx
Have you seen tia mowery off sister sister?she had to have a lap to conceive both her children.i think the hormone imbalance after pregnancy causes it to grow more as-well I could be wrong but I was much worse after my misscarrige .so sorry you’ve been through so many Laps.things are looking ok so far I had a specialist gynaecologist write a letter to my g.p so I’m hoping I’ll get a much needed referral now.i really hope they put you forward for surgery if you need it cause you know what nhs are like x
Thank you.
That is very helpful. I hadn’t looked at it from that perspective but I will try!
It took me 18 years to get diagnosed so I understand how bad history with medics can make you feel. Before my excision surgery in November 2018 I would regularly get agonising spells of being curled up on the floor in pain, vomiting and lots of clots. The only thing that would knock the pain back on those occasions was dicolfenic (volterol) suppository. It won't fix your problems but it might be worth speaking to your doctor about getting a prescription for a small quantity of these to help get through a bad day.
