So I have my 1st lap on Thursday.... when they give me the gown do I keep my bra an knickers on?? Really stupid question but I’m mithering over every last detail 😂
Embarrassing but panicking 😂: So I have my... - Endometriosis UK
Embarrassing but panicking 😂
They usually give you some knickers (they usually look like some sort of weird shower cap 😂) and you will need to take your bra off. You do this so they can attach all the medical equipment for monitoring whilst your under anaesthetic 👍🏻
I was told I could keep my bra on if there was no metal, and I was allowed to keep my pants on! However, when I woke up, I didn’t have either on! 😂 x
I was really nervous about this!! I had to wear these net like knickers and no bra. When I went in to the room where they lie you on the bed etc for surgery I was freezing so obviously having no bra on I was dead embarrassed haha! Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you!! xx
I took my bra and knickers off, the lovely nurses explained I could use the paper knickers but I just wen't without as it's easier and makes less noise lol!
For comfort I was wearing the crop top style bras anyway and full briefs; these are also useful for after surgery
I walked down to the anaesthetic room in my full fastened at the back gown, the supplied dressing gown and stockings, with the nurse.
Don't worry the nurses talk through everything and help get you ready, just think they've all seen everything before and they aren't looking at you in that way, if you're cold like I was while in the anaesthetists room; mention it and they'll put a blanket over while doing the prep.
They move you around during the operation so less restrictive clothing is better.
I woke with one of those huge old fashioned period pads wedged in there - i guess for spotting and if we dribble wee when coming round
Had mine Monday, didn’t have anything apart from gown when had anaesthetic. They’ve seen it all hundreds of times, it’s not something to worry about. It was my first time for op, all this goes through your mind though. Everything went much better than I anticipated.
Hope your ok
I had a full flow heavy period for mine😬 I wore my knickers and pad down to theatre under my gown and slipped them off before getting on the trolley bed. A kind nurse delt with them. As stated they sit you on what looks like an spread out nappy pad. Remember to take some pads for afterwards as you tend to bleed from surgery.
Hope it all goes well!
