Hi everyone,

Does anyone know how long surgery takes for deep excision?

I have stage 4, my bowel needs resectioning.

I'm sure my consultant said up to 4hrs.

Thankyou

I think it all depends on what they find when they get you under... my suregery wasn’t expected to take long but ended up being almost 8hrs!

Wow, that's a long time.

I'm sure he said up to 4hrs, me and my other half seem to of heard it differently.

Never mind, I guess I'll find out on the day.

Did your symptoms improve after surgery?

Thankyou for your reply x

To be honest my only symptoms were extreme pain in my pelvis which was due to a cyst on my ovaries. However when they operated they found endo everywhere- my bowel was stuck to as well as folded over, endo on my bladder etc so they had to get a colorectal surgeon as well as a urologist to make sure they could safely remove and unstick everything. My symptoms have been minimal since surgery, I do still have pain but no where near as bad as what it was.

Hi Peoni,

It took over 7 hours for mine. I was stage 4 with a frozen pelvis. I needed a resection and the rest of my bowel dissecting (also endometriosis was found in my liver and kidneys).

I had a complete hysterectomy and ovaries removed - my surgeons were amazing.

Sending you big hugs and wishing you the very best for your recovery xx

Thankyou everyone for your replys.

I am so anxious about it all, it's more the risks of general anesthetic that's bothering me, I dont know why as I've had it 8 times before.

I still cant get my head around this disease.

My consultant has answered all the questions I have asked, I've googled it, I have asked you lovely people.

I dont think theres anything else to ask.

It's this horrible disease that confuses me.

I could of sworn my consultant said up to 4 hours for my deep excision surgery but my other half said that the consultant said up to 4 hours for a full hysterectomy with bowel resection.

I guess I'll find out after surgery.

Once again, thankyou all so much.

Xx
