endometriosis and immune system

Just wondering how many other Endo sisters suffer from frequent bouts of flu/colds? I seem to catch everything going round and its really impacting life now. Trying to note when it happens and appears to be week after period every month! I feel there definitely needs to be more work into linking endometriosis and immune dysfunction/auto immune disease

Yeah I am the same, I catch every bug and colds always turn into infection due to my immune system. They have agreed that an immune dysfunction can be linked with endo, this is most likely because your body is attacking the endo which is making your white blood count lower making you more vulnerable at getting ill

and yet on my bloods white cells etc all come back normal its frustrating not to have a clear answer with an easy fix as with anything endo related!

They may come back normal as there is a threshold, you could find that usually they are on the lower side but just within the threshold, that what mine is like all the time until I become ill

I feel similar yes, i catch everything and then it takes ages to recover. I take vitamins and try and be healthy and am trying to excercise where possible. It is an ongoing struggle!! I previously used to get b12 jabs aswell which i think helped x

I've always gone down with everything but last year I changed my multivitamin to one containing selenium which is important to the immune system and no longer easy to get through our diets. It's made a big difference to me. Two short lived colds in 14months is an incredible record for me! I take Premtis by Nature's Best a UK mail order company. It's designed to give hormonal support to women. Might be worth looking into :)

I'm glad someones asked this because I've been thinking I'm just going crazy that when I get colds and stuff not only do I get them more frequently I also have them worse than most of the people at work. Often needing a day or two off to get over the intensified symptoms. Which HR thinks is me being weird because "everyone else just comes in and copes".

Is there a website / pdf I could use for work to explain illness / weakened immune system? I have the Endometriosis UK leaflet for the workplace and the See Her Thrive endometriosis workplace one too. But these explain endo in general relating to the cycle etc with how work can help but nothing on impact when combined with say general coughs and colds.

Not knowing I had endo for many years due to late diagnosis, but having noticed how susceptible to colds and flu I was, I have been taking Echinacea in drops when I start to feel tired and /or at the very beginning of a cold it has been my preferred godsend for a couple of decades. I also take vitamin D which helps with the immune system and keep an eye on my iron level, take iron tablets. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for all the replies it’s good to know you’re not alone especially after just suffering from yet another bout of a flu like virus!! I take all the vitamins and echinacea under the sun doesn’t seem to make much difference!
