Hey guys, thought I would write an update from my previous post (and I need to vent) I went back to see my gynae 1 week after she said the MRI was fine and that she would do the operation for my own piece of mind to prove nothing is there.
Turned up and told her I was struggling, been unable to do much the last few days taken time off uni because of it etc and she literally told me to go to A&E and get seen there to get a laparoscopy done quicker because her waiting list is long??
So off I went to A&E, had to phone in work too! (she said she was ringing through) no one had heard from her, I waited 3 hours and had still seen no doctor got told the wait was more 6 hours. Went home and all I have now is an appt back to see her in 4 weeks time.
Hopefully will be going back to the doctors and ask to be referred to an endometriosis specialist because all the symptoms are there as per nice guidelines.
Sorry for the rant anyways, would love to hear of anyone else’s similar situations

Sorry you are going through so much pain and it doesn’t help when you’re waiting for doctors to do something, it just adds to the stress. Unfortunately for us the waiting times for operations are very long, I think my first ever laparoscopy took a year and a bit waiting but this was many moons ago; it doesn’t seem to have improved since then either. Did she give any indication of how long it might take before you have a date and did you ask to be notified of any cancellations? If not go back and ask sometimes cancellations do happen.
I’d ask to be put on the waiting list but let them know you are available for short notice cancellations. From my own experience, A&E will only manage pain in some cases if you are already under a Gynecologist; unless it’s life threatening.
From my own experience, I would think it's worth waiting to get the best surgeon you can if you're going to go ahead with lap. . Unless it's emergency obviously.
I read your posts and I too had bowel and bladder symptoms for years. Sometimes falling to the ground with the pain and unable to walk for days. I didn't really have too much period problems..
I got fobbed off for years and got told in A and E many times I was constipated.
Turns out many I had / have severe endometriosis.
Anyway, the lap isn't easy, my recovery was slow for me.
So be careful to make right choice that you need it. Find a good doctor to guide you and if you go for lap, try and get the best doctor in your area.
I wish I got proper care when I was young at college, but I just got used to eating pain killers and laxatives.
I hope you get the right help .don't give up and keep pushing to get help. Keep reading the relevant websites to get informed.
From my initial first gp appointment to now it's been 13 months. I'm booked in for a laparoscopy & hysteroscopy on 6th November. It took 2 attempts from me to get referred to see a gynecologist. 1st dr said it was my "age" and periods usually get worse as you get older (I'm 36) 2nd dr sent me for an ultrasound scan which showed small cysts inside my womb but nothing else. So I had to go back again to get referred to see consultant. I felt like they didnt believe the amount of pain I'm in and it really affects my bowels and bladder aswell. You almost start to doubt yourself. The consultant I saw was very nice, she said the only way to see if a woman has endo is a laparoscopy. You just have to keep on at them which no one should have to do but it seems this is the only way.
So sorry you’re having problems with getting a laparoscopy booked. It’s so frustrating when the doctors don’t listen to you.
On my 2nd referral to a gynaecologist, I was referred for a laparoscopy. I think I got quite lucky because endometriosis is something he was really interested in so he really understood & sympathised with my pain. I think it was about 4-5 months from his referral to when I had surgery but about 4-5 years from when I first saw my GP about the pain.
I would totally agree with previous comments though that you need a good surgeon who is going to do their best to help, especially if it’s effecting your bowels etc. Mine was great and really supportive but still needed to refer me on to a specialist for a 2nd lap to treat my bowels/rectum which I never got referred for because of a mess up at the hospital.
