Hey! There’s so little information out there on what happens to your body, mind and hormones after the injection wears out - I had only one injection (total medical mistake) which I had four weeks ago yesterday, I’ve suffered a seizure as well which isn’t known if linked to the drug 😡 but I feel absolutely rotten, low, mood swings, struggling a bit. Anyone knows what happens when the injection ends? When do I expect first period? Am I getting a bombardment of hormones? Wish I’d never taken it, but advice who’s really be appreciated 👌
Prostap withdrawal?: Hey! There’s so little... - Endometriosis UK
Prostap withdrawal?
Hello Fungifips,
I'm so sorry to hear you've been having such a rough time. There are a couple of options in terms of more in-depth securing advice about Prostap side effects.
The first option is the Summary of Product Characteristics leaflet published by the drug's manufacturer on the website "Medicines.org.uk" - this is a more detailed version of the patient leaflet aimed at medical professionals but published with open access to everyone online here:
medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...
The second option is for you to ask your GP / Specialist to contact the drug's manufacturer Takeda Uk direct; they have pharmaceutical advisors who are able to provide medical professionals with more detailed advice about Prostap's side effects. You can find their details here:
If your GP / Specialist won't contact Takeda UK on your behalf then you can contact them and give your permission for Takeda UK to contact your GP / Specialist to offer advice.
Best of luck, I hope the side effects you've suffered ease now you've ceased treatment.

Not yet they haven’t unfortunately, feel dreadful. Docs prescribed diazapam but I haven’t slept for two nights and just feel so low and off. Really don’t know what to do if it continues hence why I wondered how long it takes inside to start functioning again. Thanks for your help xxx
They say that Prostap should work its way out if your system 6-10weeks after your last injection, but that’s a rough guideline and factors like duration of treatment can impact upon that timeline.
Prostap can impact upon mood, and both mood changes and epileptic seizures (with and without a history of epilepsy) are listed on the manufacturer’s Summary of Product Characteristics as requiring particular monitoring. Have your GP and Specialist offered you support while you are dealing with Prostap side effects?

Thank you, my GP doesn’t seem to be that familiar with prostap, plus they’re still trying to find the right pain relief for the existing pelvic issue (hernia). I can’t take hrt due to blood clot history, and really struggle with anti depressants so it’s probably going to be a case of each day as it comes and sitting it out at the moment. I would hope it wouldn’t take long for body to return to normal state, got too much going on at moment as it is for this to be happening as well xxx
Fingers crossed the adverse effects will wear off sooner rather than later if you've just had the one injection. I would see if your GP is willing to contact the manufacturer's pharmaceutical advisors - they may be able to offer them with advice on how best to manage the residual adverse effects given that you can't take add-back and antidepressants are not a great option either. It does sound as though your situation would benefit from some expert advice.
I really hope things pick up soon for you. In the meantime take it as easy as you can and look after yourself, x X x
