Hey ladies

I’m super nervous, my laparoscopy for endo is coming up and I really couldn’t be more nervous. I’m scared they’re just gonna tell me I’m being dramatic and there’s nothing wrong - but I’m in unbearable pain just starting to doubt myself. Has anyone got any tips to calm me down? And also what was recovery like?

Thank you 🥰

Hello Orla. I had my first laparoscopy 2 weeks ago after being in pain for a year and a half. I went into surgery thinking that they would find nothing and that I had been being dramatic and that it was all in my head. But they did find endometriosis. I felt relieved that I finally had a reason for the pain but sad and worried in regards to being diagnosed with endometriosis. I also expected I would be up and about and pain free from the surgery within a few days but it was very painful for the first week and a half and had only just started easing up. I’m still suffering with a lot of bloating and exhaustion. They gave me a two week sick note for work before I even went down for surgery so that surprised me. And I may have to extend it as I didn’t feel able to go back to work today. I know some people who have had two weeks off and have been ok and others who have had months off. Everyone’s experience is different. I would advise that you just take each moment as it comes, out yourself first and take time to rest and heal. I hope your surgery goes well and that you have a speedy recovery! X

I’m exactly the same, had laparoscopy and the endo diagnosed and removed 2 weeks ago. I have just had to expend my leave because I still feel incredibly sore. X

Hi Orla,

I had my first lap a few years ago now, i thought exactly the same maybe i was being dramatic and the pain was just normal for me, they found endometriosis in my lap. So what ever the outcome is for you at least you will have an answer. Just rest up after the op, they sign you off for two weeks, i actually went back after a week as i was going mad in the house i wish i didn't do that now, your body needs time to heal. Gets lots of peppermint tea, you can get a lot of built up gas which can be painful to get rid of and i found peppermint helped so much.

Good luck! x

Please, don't go into surgery just to get a diagnosis. Get into surgery to get all endo removed from your body in one sitting. Please research your surgeon before you let him/her touch you. You have no idea how much endometriosis can be missed.

I’m so glad that someone else feels the same. Mine is in less than three weeks and I genuinely feel like they’re going to tell me there’s nothing there and I’m being dramatic, thought it was only me!
