Endo adhesions healing themselves?

Hello everyone,

Due to endo adhesions, my left ovary is stuck on top of my womb. I have been told to wait by my gynaecologist to see if it unsticks itself/gets better on its own and to review the situation in 3-4 months.

My understanding of endo adhesions is that they have to be surgically removed but am I wrong? Has anyone ever had an endo adhesions healing themselves or things becoming unstuck?

Hi no I have never heard of endo adhesion becoming unstuck, if anything if they stick it just gets worst, that is what happened to me.

That's what I thought too! Thank you for the comment.

My left ovary is stuck and has been for two years! I’m waiting for surgery and have been for a long time - it has only gotten worse as time has gone on. Now I can’t do any exercise that involves anything to do with my abdomen as it leave me in agony afterwards. I hate the way issues that are clearly not acceptable are brushed under the carpet. Not sure they would leave things so long if it was a testicle that was stuck in the wrong place. Good luck with getting this sorted. X

Oh no! How awful for you. Sometimes your gp requires a bit of pushing - mine certainly did. In your case they've breached their 12 weeks waiting period, so you have grounds to ask them for a nearer date. I hope you get one soon!

I agree! Its so unfair that's there's a gender gap in health are particularly with women's health issues. It makes me so annoyed!

Hi Bubble_by, I had surgery in May of this year and was finally diagnosed after ten years of pain.

My surgeon showed me (I have pictures) my uterus where my body had been fighting endo. I had/have like craters where endometrial tissue was but my body had flushed out. (I had 250ml of fluid drained which my body had produced itself).

But the adhesions had become so tight he said they were like ligaments, my bowel was stuck to my abdomen wall with scar tissue that made me sick every time I ate amongst many other symptoms.

I would get a second opinion and speed along the process-do not wait, especially if you have not been given medication such as visanne.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Do you mind me asking what stage endo you have?

Yes I can see it will probably come to that.

I've not heard for visanne, is it a painkiller?

Visanne is a progestin that slows the growth of endometriosis-proven to do so as well.

I do not think it is available in the U.K. actually - which is strange as it is available in Aus/USA/most of Europe etc.

I have stage 3 endometriosis, unfortunately I did not get any relief from the surgery in May, so now I am trying the medication, diet etc.

I have moved to Germany since my operation which I guess is why I have Visanne as an option to try, only downside is it inhibits ovulation (as I really would like to have a baby) but in the long run it can help prolong fertility.

Honestly from experience, the scar tissue just becomes more and more painful/tighter. The only thing that “healed itself” was the endometrial tissue.

If I was you, I would ask to see another gynaecologist. X

Hi Bubble,

No I haven’t heard of them healing themselves, but if you take serrapeptase which is a natural enzyme produced by the silk worm to allow them to dissolve out of their cocoon, then that dissolves them over time. X

Thank you for your comment - I will look into this!

Not heard of it going away, unless maybe after menopause when oestrogen levels drop and are no longer 'feeding ' it. Get a second opinion? I believe that is your right x

Thank you for your comment - I'm only 24 so sadly I think I have awhile to wait until the menopause 😩 but yes I will look for a second opinion x

That is a bunch of crap! You may want to find someone that specializes in endo because your ovary may become compromised and unable to ovulate and become pregnant on the side it is stuck. Adhesions only get worse over time and cause more pain and infertility. Pregnancy is the only thing that reduces endo and adhesions...... I hope you can get the help you need
