I’m looking for a bit of last minute advice. I’ve got an appointment with a surgeon this afternoon and I was looking for advice on how best to convince him to try excision surgery. Last time I was there they suggested a hysterectomy as the hormone therapies don’t seem to work for me.
I know they can be reluctant to do excision surgery due to it coming back so I just wanted to know your experiences and how you convinced them to do excision surgery?
Thanks in advance

Hi Lisa, sorry I didn't see your post until now. How did your appointment go?
After a fairly long wait, I was lucky enough to be referred to a really sympathetic surgeon and excision was suggested due to the amount of pain I was in. It seemed like the best course of action for me in my situation. I hope your appointment went well and that you got the outcome that you wanted.
Hi it went really well thank you and he agreed to the surgery 😊 how successful was your surgery? I’ve not had much luck with anything giving me long term relief!
I'm so pleased for you and hope that the surgery will provide you relief.
I had to have two surgeries - the first one was just looking inside - I thought they were going to remove everything at that point, but they were not prepared for it being inside my bladder and other areas so they couldn't perform the excision; it was a big disappointment when I woke up. Will you be doing any prep before your surgery?
Luckily they were able to remove everything during the second surgery, so that was a success, and I have been pain free for almost a year. But I'm worried that it's coming back now. I was always aware that it might happen, so I'm still on that journey. I did a lot of research and changed my diet. I believe that our bodies are strong and can heal provided that we help it.
Good luck with your surgery, I really hope it helps.
It depends on where you are having the excision. As part of mine was near my bowel I had to fast and take a drink to clear my bowel. Your surgeon should go through any prep that you will need.
As for diet changes, the main things were going gluten free and not having cow's milk (due to the hormones in there), but there are other things to try like eating nutrient rich food - e.g. foods rich in magnesium to help with pain relief, omega 3 and omega 6, etc. I would recommend the book "Endometriosis: A Key to Healing And Fertility Through Nutrition" by Dian Shepperson Mills and Michael Vernon.
I hope you get similar results too! Fingers crossed.
