I’m looking for some advice to put my mind at rest as I cannot go back to the doctors again!
I had the prostap injection last week and came on my period a few days later. I am in absolute agony, going to the toilet makes me want to faint. Is this usual for the first week of having this? Will my symptoms improve? I’ve had to take time off work, which I have never done before with my endometriosis. Any experience from anyone would be greatly received.

Really sorry to hear you are feeling so rough. Your consultant should have explained that when you first take Prostap it causes what they call a “flare effect”. This can exacerbate your symptoms and make them all worse before the drug fully suppresses your cycle and your periods stop.
It should settle in a few weeks, but it is always worth flagging it up with your GP / prescribing consultant so they and you can keep an eye on your symptoms.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond - this has made me feel like I’m not going mad. I was told the prostap would make things better - I was not told before that it would get a whole lot worse! Hopefully I can get the doctor to give me a note for work, they just think I have bad period pain!
