Pain after treatment

Hello,

I have recently been diagnosed for endometriosis and did a laparoscopy in April 2019. My gyno prescribed hormonal pills for me to take (called 'maxim') and advised me to take them every day so that i don't get my period until i want to get pregnant. It has all been good so far, after the laparoscopy and taking the pills, i feel good and pain free. However i woke up this morning with pain that feels like what i used to have before getting my period. My question is: is it normal to have pain that feels like period pain even after taking the pill that is supposed to stop endometriosis from coming again since it stops my period?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Hello

In short yes it's not abnormal. The pill is prescribed to people with endo to try and slow the regrowth of endometriosis, but just because you don't have a period doesn't mean it can't still grow. It also might be that you need a different pill with different levels of oestrogen and progesterone, or different versions of them. As different people need different levels to get the best results.
