Pain months after laparoscopy

Good morning,

Just wanted others opinions really. So I had laparoscopy at the end of September 2020. They found a small amount of endometriosis and ablated it. I still feel discomfort in my stomach now around the area of my incision. The pain is worse if I am on my feet for a long time ( I work 12 hour shifts sometimes) or if I am busy . I didn't expect to still feel like this months later. Has this happened to anyone else? I have had no follow up since surgery just a brief chat with my consultant after I came round in the operating theatre. Anyone else still struggling months after? Love to all 😊

Hello not sure what sort of pain you mean but one thing you might want to look into is scar manipulation. I have seen a sports physio who specialises in that. It made a huge difference as the scar tissue in the deeper layers was pulling. The actual massage was horrible but it cured the problem. Hope you find something that helps.

Hi thanks for replying, the pain is like a dragging aching pain around the incision scar. Some days is worse than others. It's also uncomfortable when I am lay down. I keep wondering if I have overdone it and injured myself. I should get in touch with my gp really but it's so hard to get appointment!

Hello,Sorry to read you are in pain. Its hard to be dealing with it and not let it affect your work. I don't know much about ablation because I've had excision surgery. I'd definitely push to see your GP even to get a referral to Gynaecology to speak to someone who is more informed of endometriosis. My best advice is definitely do not leave it too long to be seen. From my experience it just made everything worse and now I feel like I'm paying for it.

Best of luck xxx

Thankyou for your reply. Yes I think I will speak to my gp. I just thought that after my laparoscopy I would feel better but now it's a different sort of pain.

Good luck. Like the others said, you definitely need some sort of a follow up because the pain is there and it's new. X

Thankyou. So I rang the gynecologists secretary and because my laparoscopy was end of September I have been discharged from them. I have to go back to my gp first who then has to refer me back. 🙄

I’d contact your surgeon and request a follow up appointment, even a telephone chat as you may have to wait ages. Tell the surgeons secretary that you’re still in pain, you should’ve had a follow up. Wish you well x

Thanks for replying. I will try to get back in touch with the gynecologist. I was basically told at the hospital I probably wouldn't get a follow up. This was after my surgery so everything's was a bit hazy. X

Hi.

Sorry to hear that you still in pain.

I had my surgery in June 2020 and I am still having huge pain sometimes.

I have done mri s and scans, I had a cyst of 6 cm which burst itself, apparently now I have prolapse bladder and a small fibroid which nobody is concern about this, even though I am in huge pain. The worst pain is when I am having my period and after I had my surgery I am having big blood clots on first day of my period.

I hope this help. If you have more questions, I am lore than happy to answer to them.

I hope the pain will go away.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear your still in pain. Its frustrating as you have surgery to get rid of the pain. My pain now is a different type of pain than before surgery and mostly felt around one of my incision scars. It's not constant but if I do too much or am on feet too long it starts. I tried contacting gynecologist and spoke to his secretary who said I have been discharged now so have to speak to my own gp and if they feel I need to see gyno again they will refer me. Its really annoying!!
