Is it normal to be given a diagnostic cardiology appointment before laparoscopy?

Was anyone given a diagnostic cardiology appointment before their laparoscopy? I recieved letter and got so excited thinking it was finally my op date but instead it was just that. I had an ecg at my pre op already, as far as I'm aware my heart is fine I've never had issues.

Are you in the UK? I’ve never had an ECG at a pre-op. There must be some reason they want to be sure you can safely have general anaesthetic, maybe something in your medical history or something unusual about you or for your age. Maybe the anaesthetist is just super thorough and cautious and requests loads of tests for everyone! Best to ask why they want to do it when you have the appointment!

Thank you for replying! Yes I'm in the UK. They gave me the ecg just being overly cautious as I mentioned I had palpitations literally a couple of times as a young teen (I'm 30 now) So that should have come back ok and all be fine as I've never had any problems with my heart. I had an ecg a couple of years ago during a hospital stay too and it was fine. My heart rate is on the lower side, my cardiovascular health is really good so I'm really pissed that this is delaying things even more! There's always something it seems, life eh haha

Argh, hopefully the cardiology appointment will finally put the question to rest once and for all!

*UPDATE* They heard a murmur which is why the scan was needed. My results showed that I have hypokinesesis. My heart isn't contracting as strongly as it should and has weakened. Due to what they don't know! More tests and things are needed. I have been cleared for my lap though which is taking place on 31st this month! Now I'm just scared they'll find nothing and say I'm crazy...
