Hi all, I had my lap 10 days ago (removal of multiple ovarian cysts, diagnosed stage 4 endo, unstuck my ovaries and the adhesions they could get to) and my belly bloat seems to be getting worse every day... I normally wear a size 12 so bought some size 14 baggy clothes to recover in which were initially fine, but the last few days have been really uncomfortable and my clothes are visibly tighter. Is this normal? I'm going to the toilet ok but from time to time I have what I think is gas pain that is so painful it stops me in my tracks. Is it just because I haven't been doing much the last few days? I'm due to go back to work on Wednesday and I literally have nothing that fits! I've also got a really bad back that goes down into my buttocks and thighs, like I've pulled a muscle, did anyone else get this? I'm finding it hard to be up and about for more than half an hour at a time, and not sure whether I should get my sick note extended.

Bloating getting worse since lap
Hello Womble84, I had my diagnostic lap in Feb and experienced the same. My weight has gone up from a size 12 to 14 and presently a 16, and still going up. Not sure what the cause is. I am struggling to loose the weight despite going to the gym 3-4 times a week. I am also constantly bloated.
As for the gas, I took peppermint and fennel tea which helped with the painful gas. I still have the shoulder pain though. I hope that helps sorry I don’t have straight forward answers.
Thanks Roro, sorry you are feeling the same way. Hopefully the bloating will subside for us both soon!
This is normal 10 days after lap. Everybody is different in healing time depending on what was done and how your body heals. I am in week 6 post op and I am still experiencing bloating, aching and feeling weak despite trying to slowly do normal things again. I'm hoping it'll get better for me soon because I think i look like I am about 3-6months pregnant sometimes, gets worse after I eat. Very uncomfortable so I have to have a heat pack on. My surgeon told me my lap was more extensive so I need to listen to my body, take it slow and be patient. The patient part is hard for me because I just want to be back to my old self again.
If you haven't already, buy some pants with an elastic waste band and semi loose fitting tops for now. And if you don't feel up to going back to work again then you should get your sick leave extended. I was feeling a bit better In week 3 post op. But it's up to you. Just don't push yourself too hard and take a lot of rests like sitting down.
Hiya, Same here! I signed in today because I’m 16 days post lap, and I’m concerned because the bloat and soreness still haven’t resolved. My first lap was 4 years ago and I recovered much faster. This time around the consultant excised deep implants and removed adhesions that we’re fixing my ovary and tube to my abdomen in a twisted position. I believe it’s ovulation time, and it’s much more painful than before the laparoscopy. Glad to know I’m not alone!
