Hi everyone,

Yesterday I went for a second internal scan (I’ve also had a smear test, many examinations and a colposcopy) to try and work out what was causing all my symptoms. Two doctors in there agreed it looked like endometriosis from what they could see and feel, and I’ve been given this diagnosis but I thought the only way to accurately diagnose it was through a laparoscopy? I guess I’m just looking for some advice on if I should be pushing to see an endometriosis specialist to get a proper diagnosis. I also haven’t been told anything about how bad it is or anything, I was just told there are treatments out there if I want to look into them. So feeling a bit confused and unsure if I’ve been properly diagnosed or not!

I believe the doctors are pointing you in the right direction. They ruled out more serious diagnosis first. I would follow up with an Endometriosis specialist.

I had a doctors who felt my pain was due to hernia. It turned out to be endometriosis/andyomyosis, and some hernias. However the excruciating pain was caused by my endometriosis/andyomyosis.

Thank you, that makes sense. Ouch, hope the pain is more under control now? I’m fed up of being in constant pain and bleeding, so hoping this is the right direction to getting some answers and some pain management! Thank you so much for your help.

No problem my dear. I almost gave up back in September after trying to get a doc to listen to me about the pain. The fact your ascetic docs suspected endo is awesome because many of us have to go threw other channels till we get the go for exploratory lap and removal.

Please whatever you do. See an endometriosis specialist. They are much different than a gynecological surgeon or Obgyn. My obgyn told me all my issues were normal. She works close with my Endo surgeon and he even disagreed with her impression. She only wanted me on pills and I had to be persistent to get her to send me to him. Basically I said I'll take your pills but you have to refer me to a specialist. I lucked out because I had researched specialists in my area (just in case I got no where with her) and the dr she sent me too happened to be the doc that was first on my list to see if she rejected my plea.

Arm yourself with knowledge and start scoping out doctors. Hugs. This will get better.

It’s been a long journey getting here, but I think I’ve been lucky with a few of the doctors I’ve seen who have sent me the right way, but it took a good 8 years to get here!

God, I’m glad you got to see the right specialist and glad you did the research beforehand! I’m going to sit down tomorrow and do all the research I can! Thank you!
