Adhesions and surgical recovery

Hiya, just looking for advice really.

I had a diagnostic laparoscopy done two days ago (on Tuesday) to look for endo. I didn’t get to talk to the surgeon after the lap because he was in an emergency op. But the nurse told me that both my Fallopian tubes and ovaries were buried in adhesions and that my left ovary and tube was stuck to pelvic side wall and my right ovary was stuck to my appendix. So these were unstuck during the op. There was no sign of endo.

Basically, I’m just looking for advice about recovery time, also what causes adhesions, what adhesions even are? And do you bleed after surgery? I’m in quite a bit of pain today but I’m guessing this is normal. Now that I’ve had the surgery will my problems with the pain I was in previously now be gone fully???

I haven’t spoke to the surgeon but I think I may ring his secretary tomorrow to find out.

I was told a very similar thing in my first op: adhesions but no endo. Adhesions are basically bands of scar tissue that form because of trauma, infections or chronic inflammation (main causes). This didn’t make sense to me though since there was nothing else that could have caused the adhesions so I pushed for a second surgery to look again and also for a separate ovary issue. The second time, they found endo and lots of other issues. It may be a different case for you but a lot of surgeons are not well trained in how to find and remove endo. However, you will likely still have quite a bit of pain relief as adhesions also cause a lot of pain. I felt a lot better after my first op without any endo removed.

This is what doesn't make sense to me either. There's been no trauma or previous surgery, no infection or anything that I've ever been aware of etc so I dunno how I got them. But never mind, it's done now so hopefully that's me "fixed". If I start getting symptoms again I'll push for another lap. I've had the coil for two years n I've read somewhere that it can 'hide' endo?? But not sure how legit that is? Xxx thank you for your reply xxx

It can prevent more endo from growing and can ‘possibly’ help get rid of endo. I hope you feel better soon xx
