I've been diagnosed two years nearly, had a lap which removed a lot of cysts and tissue and also found my intestine was stuck to my pelvic wall. I've been on prostap injections but they made my life absolutely miserable and didn't do much for the pain. I've come off them and I'm about to try the pill again, which I know doesn't working.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the coil? I have heard a few horror stories but I'm starting to think it might be one of the few options left available to me other than another surgery. My pain is constant and my moodswings have been out of control, I really just want to get something a bit more stable so I can start focusing on other parts of my life.

Hey Hun.. I had my lap on Friday where they removed the endo but also had a coil fitted at the same time.. it’s very early days but all seems fine as of yet!
I had lap in early March to remove right ovarian cyst, endo, hysteroscopy d&c and Mireni coil put in. I didn’t really want the coil (read all the stories) but Consultant convinced me it would really help heavy periods and pain. I had cramps and spotting most days after insertion until end of May and I still had bad “period pain” but no real period (which is one great thing as heavy before). I was just beginning to feel my body had adjusted to it as the spotting and cramps stopped for a week or so, and then the pain started again in my right side, pelvic area, legs, back etc. Consultant sent me for ultrasound and coil is positioned correctly but cyst back on ovary. They can’t tell what type yet but it’s the same pain as before so I’m sure endometrium cyst. Got to “watchful wait” now and carry on putting up with pain but I do feel having the Mireni has been for nothing apart from missing a couple of heavy periods. I’ve read cysts with Mireni are a side effect in 12% of women. So, I’m glad I gave it a go, but going to wait until my next scan then I may have it taken out. I do have 2 friends who have Mireni and they love them but they have no gynae problems.
I had one fitted after my lap at the end of March. I wasn't too keen on having it but so far it's working ok. Bled for about 6 weeks lightly and now it still feels like it's settling down. I'm still quite emotional and still get a bit of pain but it's still early days. Be prepared to give it about a year to decide whether it's working or not.
