Hi i have recently been diagnosed with endometriosis via laparoscopic surgery. They removed visible endo but unfortunately im still in a lot of pain. Im due to have a Mirina Coil fitted I’m currently on Norriday and have tried Desagestral, however, the pain still persists. I’m just wondering what other people’s experiences are on the Mirina?

Hi, I had the coil put in for my endo in December 2018 and all was fine pain wise up until December last year and ever since I’ve been in agony. All I can say is everyone’s experience is different and it depends how severe your endo is but there’s always going to be some pain as it’s not cureable. Do you have really painful periods? The mirenia helped with my pain with that as my periods have stopped completely but I have pain all the time now. The mirenia is definitely worth a try as it is different for every person. There’s many good and bad stories out there but don’t let someone’s bad experience put you off COs you never know it could be the best thing for you

Hi, I had the copper coil fitted around 3 years ago and around the time was when I started experiencing the endo systems and got diagnosed so I don’t know if there is a correlation which means the coil affects the endo and causes more pain I’m not sure

Hi Hope you’re well

I had the copper coil fitted 1st September while experiencing symptoms. Spoke to gyne and they recommended it changed to mirena as it is supposed to help with periods and pain if I have endo. I have a small cervix so I can’t have mirena they fitted Kyleena. Just had it fitted today. Hopefully it will help. I am worried because a lot of people have said it helps for a bit but then the pain is constant. Everyone is different hopefully it helps most people. I’ve spoke to a few gyne and doctors and they all recommended hormonal coil may be worth a go. I had endo symptoms when I had nexplanon implant so I’ll be interested if the coil actually helps or not!

Good luck I hope it relieves your pain!

Good idea. No rush! Since this is my second coil change in 2/3 months I find it agonising getting it done not sure if that’s normal! I’m already cramping before the procedure anyway!

I hope you’re feeling better soon!

Oh god i can feel it as your saying it lol. The amount of times I have been poked and prodded up there i need a break haha. Hopefully it won’t be too bad. Id advise taking some strong painkillers beforehand. Good luck and Thank You xxx

It was awful. I can’t believe us women go through this like it’s nothing! Luckily I could take some co codamol before hand and a friend took me to my appointment. Still in so much pain anyway I felt sick 🤢. I hope it’s worth it! I’m a bit frustrated they didn’t recommend the hormonal coil when I they knew I had heavy prolonged painful periods. Lucky for me two coils in 3 months 🤦‍♀️🤢

I hope you find a contraceptive that’s right for you! It’s hard finding contraception and pain relief that your body responds to.
