Hi All...

My lap & hysteroscopy is tomorrow and scared is a understatement😩.. I have the biggest fear of needles and not sure how I’m going to cope with the cannula ( i had a blood test at my pre op and fainted 3 times!!)... Any tips on how to stay calm throughout the whole process 😩

They can give you a sedative hun. Have someone with you to keep mind off things whilst you wait. They didn’t cannula me till the last minute which defo helped. Good luck!

Hey, I asked for the gas before the cannula because of my phobia and they have refused😒 & They won’t let anyone with me because i’m over 18 😩... Thank you though xx

They should still let someone sit with you before you go in for surgery & wait till after. I’m 2 weeks away from 25 and I had my best friend with me the whole time

She should be allowed to wait in the ward, most likely they’ll tell you there and then that she can come with.

I have mine in a week and I am so so scared and anxious! Talk to your doctor and anesthetist tomorrow about your fears...I have been told I can take Valium and have a pre op med if needed. Let them know about your fear and they will help you...they deal with anxious people and phobias a lot...they can use a numbing cream which helps a lot...I do IVF and don’t have a needle phobia and still using numbing cream as it helps! Also wiggle your toes as they are doing it...lying down and wiggling your toes you shouldn’t pass out and it gives you something else to focus on

I have two weeks as well but hoping for just one! I am pretty good with pain as long as I don’t feel sick...I have a phobia of vomiting! I am most worried about the unknown in terms of the recovery...not knowing how much pain I will be in or how I will feel...
