New bruising 1.5 weeks after laparoscopy??

Hi all-

I had a lap on 31 May and had normal reasonable bruising afterwards that was working on slowly going away. Yesterday, I did some laundry and vacuuming and things that I had been neglecting since surgery. Nothing too strenuous, but more activity than I’ve done since the lap. Last night I noticed new dark purple ‘fresh’ bruising just below my belly button, and today it is more tender than it has been since the first couple days after the surgery. Is it possible to mess something up just by moving a little more? Has anyone experienced this? Seems very strange to have very deep purple bruising occurring 1.5 weeks post op.

Hi,

I would say you should keep taking it easy as still pretty soon after the lap! I didn’t get new bruising, but I did find when I tried to do things too early the pains got worse and took longer for my existing bruising to heal. For example I tried to do laundry after 3 weeks and made my stomach pains worse again. Don’t forget it takes loner for your insides to heal than the outside wounds so just really listen to your body and if you are worried that you may have done some damage no harm in getting your gp to check it out 😊
