Endometriosis & pregnancy

Hi, my consultant tells me that once pregnant my endometriosis symptoms should subside and a normal pregnancy can be expected...! There is one thing I am struggling to understand and wondered if anyone has any experience or advice?!

I have stage 4 endo, everything from my uterus to ovaries, bladder and bowl are connected in one way or another. Surely as my uterus grows during pregnancy this could (not saying it will) but cause my endo tissue to tear and possibly bleed? Thoughts anyone?

I was the same as you, had the lap wanting to know why I wasn't falling pregnant, when I came round was told I had stage 4 endo but also on my bowel and rectum. About 6 months later I fell pregnant and things were fine, the endo didn't cause any issues during my pregnancy. I had a vaginal birth. Horrendous period after but things seemed ok and k was coping. 2 year later fell pregnant with my 2nd. A trickier pregnancy, lots of 'panic attacks' no idea why, even now. Hormones were all over the place I have birth and again had a period from hell. The endo wasn't too much of a problem but then the periods got longer, heavier, the pains crept back my daughter was about 1 when is all started going downhill, she is 9 this year and I'm waiting for a hysterectomy to hopefully sort this endometriosis once and for all.

Hope this helped, any other questions ask away.

Take care

Everyone’s experience will vary.

I personally have had endo pain during my pregnancy- my endo grew on pod, uterus ligaments & rectum. Unsure of my stage. I had my first lap in June 2017 fell pregnant but miscarried early, had my second lap march 2018 & as it was all over my rectum & no gynae could treat it was refered to an endo specialist who did my third lap in July 2018. And I fell 2 months later. My endo affected my fertility but once it was treated I was able to conceive naturally, took us 7 years to fall with this miracle baby but we got there she’s due 1st June! I have pain when she has had a growth spurt & with my bowels same as before I fell. I think it aggravates my scar tissue. It doesn’t help that I had 3 laps in such a short space of time. I wish medics wouldn’t say pregnancy “cures” all endo pain & symptoms. 🙄

I never got any relief in terms of pain & symptoms after my surgeries but maybe I’m just one of the unlucky ones.

Wishing you the best. xoxo

Hello, I have a milder case but wonder the same thing as I don’t want it to get worse. I can tell you that I’ve had 2 miscarriages and mine has gotten a bit worse after each, so I think that pregnancy can mask the symptoms, but then you can feel the effects of it having worsened afterwards, particularly after bleeding heavily, as the blood gets trapped. If you’ve gotten any more info on this please let me know!
