Recovery help!

Hello. I have got my first operation in two weeks time - a lap to see if I have endometriosis. I’ve watched a few videos but does anyone have any tips for what I may need to help prepare for my lap? Or how to help with the recovery? Any advice would be massively appreciated!

Make sure you've got someone to take you to the hospital, and to look after you for at least a few days afterwards. Make sure you've got food in the house, and buy some peppermint tea (a lot of women get pains from the trapped gas after the lap, and peppermint helps with this.) Also make sure you're got soft loose clothes to wear after, and a hot water bottle. Good luck - recovery times vary, but I was back at work in two weeks and I used that time to watch a hell of lot of stuff on Netflix xx

Hello I had my op yesterday I’ve just been taking it easy but also walking about which for me has helped a little I haven’t had too many gas pains and there not as unbearable as I first thought they would have been the only real soreness I have is my bellybutton cut it hurts to get up out of bed again not agonising but is painful I’m a belly sleeper and a side sleeper and it’s so annoying to lye on my back but I have managed to turn slightly just plenty rest but do move about and drink plenty also a hot water bottle hope everything goes well for you xx

Paracetamol and codeine just make sure you take it easy I got up before to change a dressing and I’m in agony and felt so dizzy I’ve also been eating peppermint mints to help with the wind pain it seems silly for a small operation but you do get a lot of pain I’d rather be honest then you know what to expect you will feel better lying down propped up with two pillows xx

Seconded on the constipation! If you’re taking codine or cocodamol, you’re going to want to get some senna tablets too. I personally hate taking codine as it makes me feel rubbish but ibuprofen wasn’t cutting it after the op!
