Periods after a laparoscopy

Hi All, I had a laparoscopy around 6 weeks ago where I had some endometriosis removed. I’m now having my first proper period since the lap and it’s absolutely horrendous both in terms of pain and bleeding. I’m on day 9 and it’s not showing any signs of letting up. Have any others experienced this? Is it normal? Thanks for your help

Hi im sorry to hear your having a rough time. Its very normal i have had 3 laps. And it will take time for your body to get back to normal mine took about 2 months for my periods and pain to subside. Wish you all the best.

Thank you so much for replying. I thought it probably was normal but the pain and bleeding have been so bad (far worse than prior to the lap) I was starting to worry!

I had a lap in Jan and my first period after was quite painful and incredibly heavy for the first few days. The second was a little lighter and less painful and I've just started the third which is a little better again. I think it just takes time for out bodies to heal internally. Hope this one is over soon for you x

I had laparoscopy in January & thought I got off with no periods for about 6 weeks but they are back and worse than before I don’t know what normal is period wise now as I think we are all different after the surgery. Hope you feel okay & that things went well?
