Hi everyone. I posted a while back how I thought I had Endometriosis. I’m 22 and since starting my periods I have had very painful heavy periods. However I’d say the last 2 years they have gotten significantly worse to the point I’m bed bound for 2 days and having to take very strong doses of cocodomol to help with the pain. I met with my doctor who has put me forward for a laparoscopy on the 8th May. I have never been in hospital before and therefore never had surgery. I’ve been watching so many videos and trying to prepare myself but if anyone has any advice on what to buy to help with recovery, or anything at all to do with the surgery I would REALLY appreciate it. Anyone who goes to the gym, how long did it take you to get back at it? I’m currently applying for the RAF and with this comes a fitness test so I want to see how far the surgery would put me back.
Also, in the mean time, if anyone has any tips on how to help with the pain that comes with ‘that time of the month’ I would also massively appreciate it. I came on this morning and after days of stomach ache, feeling sick and fatigue, I have been doubled over in pain and felt very faint most of the morning. I’ve had to take some cocodomol and go to bed to try get over it. I’ve tried baths, hot water bottles, exercise, revising to take my mind off of it. I’m running out of ideas! Honestly any advice at all would be brilliant.
Thank you all so much in advance

i had my first laparoscopy and have finally had emdometrosis confirmed- even though my surgeon was adamant it wasnt.
i suffer from pain when my period is due, when i ovulate and also just random flares through the month- i cope with typical pain killers, but hot baths and hot water bottles help me dull my pain the most. There is a company called YuYubottles that make hot bottles specifically for endometriosis- check them out, they really help me deal with pain on the go!
Brilliant! Thank you so much. I do find hot water bottles help but not on their own. I usually have to take strong painkillers along with them. I hope now you have a diagnosis you can finally get the help you need to recover. How long did it take you to feel like your normal self again? Thank you again
Hi, sorry for the late reply. Erm 1 week and I felt a lot better, the first few days I was just out of it and emotional. After 2 weeks I felt myself again. It’s an emotional rollercoaster but I find strength through always telling myself I’m in control. Ive been eating dairy and gluten free and that seemed to help a lot.. but I’ve just had my first period since and it was one of the worst ones I’ve had but loads of woman say they didn’t have any pain. It completely depends on the person. Once you have a diagnosis you can be proactive and find methods and different diets and tips that might help you! X
