Hi everyone,
I last posted a year ago after having a big endometrioma removed and lots of excision/pelvic adhesiolysis. I'm still really grateful for all the advice and support on this message board, you really helped me get through it all. The rest of the year was extremely bleak, I wasn't getting pregnant and just before Christmas we started to get the ball rolling on IVF. We were told our chances weren't good, but it was our only hope.
Well, sometimes amazing things happen. The day before starting our meds, we found out I was pregnant after years of trying and 9 months after my surgery. I still don't really believe it but am now 4 months and over the moon.
I've been told I might need to see a complex section specialist given all the surgery I had last year, but haven't had an appointment yet. I would just like to hear experiences and recommendations from other people who have been through pregnancy after surgery and severe endo.
Did you see a specialist obstetrician? Should I be insisting on this?
Were you under consultant led care?
Did you have any problems?
And please, please - if you are in the dark place that I was at the end of last year - please don't give up. Pursue the best treatment possible. Research surgeons and look up your local BSGE centre. Seek second opinions. Stay strong.
