Sorry if this has been posted numerous times before but a few weeks ago I posted on here for the first time and it was pretty much a cry for help. I was really struggling to function from day to day with the mental as well as physical side effects from my endometriosis. I am still in the process of determining the best solution for me and today I was told I would be going on hormone treatment and my first injection was given to me there and then. It was a prostap injection which I have never heard of before and feel like I have been completely uninformed. I have tried looking online which gives you all the standard side effects but I wanted to hear it first hand from women who have had this about their experiences, good & bad.
Following on from my previous post also where I felt completely helpless I decided I had to go to my doctor because I knew it just wasnt normal how I was feeling and the suicidal thoughts I had for those few days a month would be terrifying. I have now been diagnosed with something called PMDD which I had never even heard of and I really wanted to raise some awareness for that as it gave me some comfort that I wasn’t completely losing my mind and that there was something wrong with me and although it is rare it can just happen to anyone. PMDD is a form of psychosis which is an extreme form of PMS, there doesn’t need to be any pre existing issues with mental health for someone to be affected by this and I hate the thought that there are women out there suffering like I was literally thinking that they are going mental just because of a period! If you ever feel like what you’re feeling around your period isnt your average mood swing or being a bit more teary then please have a look at this online. In my case the diagnosis was pretty easy as I pretty much ticked every box and now I am on medication which in a months time should have me feeling like a new woman. Thank you for all your lovely replies to my last post, it was a turning point for me and the first time I didnt feel alone in my battles with this.

hi. Sorry you are going through so much and well done for wanting to make people more aware.
I had 6 months of prostap ( without hrt) after surgery. I was told I had it or it would be back within months ( the surgery was far more complicated than anyone could have predicted). Prostap doesn't agree with everyone and can make people very poorly.
For me it was brilliant.I was pain free, able to be a wife, mum and be part of our lives not just taking meds to control the constant pain. The only side effect i had was the occasional hot flush in the first two months but after that it worked really well for me. I had 6 months and my cycles resumed after 10 weeks from the last injection.
I wasn't given much information / wasn't really fit to take it in but after research I did between injections I probably wouldn't have been keen to have it but it worked so well for me.
Thank you for giving us some information on another side of Endometriosis. I hadnt heard about PMDD before and Im thrilled that yiu are bringing some awareness to it.
I had prostap for approx 8 months (no hrt) I prob should have had HRT after the 6th month but as I was scheduled for a total Hysterectomy and oopherectomy there was very little point in that.
I found the injecions in the large very useful. I was period free. And most gratefullypain free! Something I hadnt been for years.
I had the odd hot flush (which for me personally was nice as Mostly I suffer from being too cold 😂) and Surprisingly for me I got a bit emotional...with the desire to cry at very odd moments...but as a logical person I always able to recognise that and the fact that it was a side effect.
The injections for me caused slight local irritation after the 1st 2-3 so it it advised that you dont have it injected in the same place each and every time. You can get it injected in the tummy, arm and I believe the thigh.
Every one is different as everyones bodies are unique so as Tilly floss rightly said what works for some doesnt work for others and some may have more, less or no side effects or even results from the same medication and treatment. Unfortunately it can be trial and error.
However if you feel your side effects are problematic or more than you feel is normal always go back and inform the persons whom are perscribing it.
