Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with the mirena coil? I’ve had it in for 9 months but till last month was still having heavy periods. I had a laparoscopy in may and helica treatment and the coil was inserted then. If anything the pains and symptoms have got worse since then. I bloat more often get the pains in my legs back and bottom of my stomach still. Does anyone know what they can do next waiting for some tests before they will send me back to the specialist. It’s getting me down now. Xxx

I have been in the same situation i had my lap in march 2018 they inserted the coil whilst i was having my lap as they found i had endo. I lasted 9 months and had it removed i had really bad hip pain which went down my legs, terrible back pain and also very bad anxiety/deppresion which came on everyday after 6 months i went back to my gyne she said she could take it out but i was given the option to try for a little longer which i did but nothing changed so i went back after 9 months of agony had it out all of my hip pain went away my gyne said it maybe because my pelvis was trying to grt rid of it hence the reason for all ove the pelvic pain if your concered let someone know as it will just make you feel more down being in more pain ☺ i was given the mini pill after that was taken out as they said i will end up being back to square one if i dont take anything but i then began to get terrible breasts lumps and my gp said i must stop it right away and have a 4 to 5 month break from any hormones 😯 its difficult because i suffer with aura migranes so i cant take anything with oestrogen in it 😡 anyway as i said it really didnt agree with me but its different for everyone and if its causing you bad pain etc i would defo see someone about it hope i have helped in some way xxx 💛

Thank you so much for your reply. My doctors won’t give me the pill as I suffer with migraine as well. I’ve suffered with mood swings since I’ve had the coil in and my fatigue is worse then ever!!! It just gets you down doesn’t it xxxxx

Hiya, I am a week post op and had the same as you, a lap and helica treatment to remove endo and fitted me with the coil. I've been getting like really intense period pains in my thighs and back and terrible sharp pains in my lower stomach, worsening when I go to the toilet. I've had an on and off headache for the last two days and my mood is all over the place, whether this is post surgery emotion I don't know but I know exactly how you feel, it's horrible not knowing. I think it is different for everyone, what works for one person may not work for another, but if it is making you miserable and you don't feel it is right for you, you can have it removed at any time, it's not worth the affect on your mental health you have many other options. Talk to your doctor about your options and if you're not happy you don't have to keep it in, I know I won't if this pain is consistent. Best of luck to you, try not to worry xx

Had a Mirena put in whilst having a lap in early 2016. Had 6 months of hell with it - bled pretty much constantly and honestly felt like I was becoming a mad woman. Had it removed in the end and felt better very quickly. Was also in constant pain with it - they suggested due to never having had a pregnancy my womb was so small it was being irritated all the time.

I have since tried mini pill but didn’t agree with me - migraines. Am now on a zoladex trial.

Hope you get something sorted out soon
