I had my third excision surgery for endometriosis yesterday. I’ve never reacted well to the pill, coil etc so I didn’t consider taking them following my previous operation.
However, as 5 years later I’ve now had to have surgery again I wonder if the pill is a good idea to suppress regrowth of the endometriosis? My consultant didn’t mention it but I had told him I’d like children in the not too distant future. What have others done to prevent the endometriosis returning?
Thanks

I’m no expert, but my understanding from reading around research on this is that hormones will suppress symptoms/return over 1-2yrs, but not affect rate of return for 3yrs plus. So good only for managing symptoms really. My consultant didn’t suggest any after my recent lap for grade 4 DIE, even though there is some left in my bowel. I’d be interested to know if any others have had different advice. Hope you’re recovering as well as possible x
Hi I've been on the pill for a few years to reduce symptoms and had my excision 2 weeks ago. I've been told to stay on the pill until I want children and then to go straight back on after I've had children. Hope that helps?
Also you could try a different type of pill. I reacted badly to Yasmin but I'm on triregol now and am really happy. Symptoms reduced so much in the years leading up to excision.
