When I had my Mirena fitted I bled for about 2/3 months, not just spotting either. It takes time for your body and your cycle to settle. It's frustrating and not great but take it from someone who stuck with it, it can help. I got about 3ish decent years from my Mirena, it played up a lot (or rather my hormones did) but it reduced my bleeding on periods massively. Which was one less thing to handle. I'd suggest using an app like Clue to track your symptoms, there's a free version and it works really well. I'd also have a conversation with your GP about the constant bleeding if it's getting you down, although they will probably ask you to give it a bit longer. I had my Mirena coil fitted under a GA and as part of my diagnostic lap, just finished 5 years with it and had it taken out. Waiting to see what next period is like but the way I feel right now I suspect it has actually helped!! Good luck.
Thank you so much. This gives me a bit of hope. I have spasms and cramps but they dont last anywhere near as log as they used to so it must be working.
