Every one is different I had decapeptyl last year had 1 a month for 2 months then a 3 month then a 1 month. I had bleeding after the first one then no period for 9 months. This year I had decapeptyl a 3 month one after the depo povera injection and I had bleeding constant. I had heavy bleeding for nearly 7 months Every day. I'm 14 days post op from having a double oopherectomy. It might just take the injections a little while longer to work for you. Take care xx

Thank you for replying I’ve left a message with my gynaecologist so waiting to hear back I’m hoping it’ll kick in and I’ll have a few months of no bleeding! I’m trying to avoid having the op done just because I’m self employed, single mum and selling my house! Hope you recover well thanks again xx

Not sure if this thread is still active... I’m on my third monthly Decapeptyl injection. The first month was carnage. Since then, the bleeding has stopped for about a week after each jab only to resume at the start of week 2. My gyno wants me to stay on the medication until my natural menopause kicks in. She told me my body needed time to adjust and that the bleeding would gradually diminish but I’m not at all convinced.

Hi I didn’t get on ok with the injections, I kept on bleeding so i stopped them. I’ve now since had an hysterectomy last year (October) and it was the best thing i did. I recovered and was back to work in 8 weeks and do feel so much better! No more time of the months. If you have any questions I’m happy to help you xx

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes, I’m sure I’d heave a sigh of relief if it were all over, but I’m a huge coward, and am acting as caregiver for my Mum, so taking time out would be tricky. It’s good to know I’m not the only person on earth who doesn’t stop bleeding while on that medication. The gyno who first prescribed the treatment treated me as a bit of a freak. I’ve now switched to a new doctor, who wants me to stay on the treatment until my natural menopause. I’ll be seeing a naturopath in two weeks’ time to see if there’s an alternative to pumping me with all those artificial hormones. The hot flashes are bad enough but I’ve also become an emotional wreck.

I’m probably more of a coward than you but I just couldn’t cope with it anymore and the op was no where near as bad as I thought. Glad you changed doctors as you’re not a freak I was the same kept bleeding and really bad mood swings! I kept crying and felt really down so I did stop them. So do you know what is causing the heavy bleeding mine was because of a large fibroid. Plus I’m 43 so I might be a while before menopause!

Mental pain is the most excruciating of them all. I’m 47 so menopause could be just around the corner, but then again, it might not, so this is still a bit of a gamble. In my case it’s also a big fibroid although my acupuncturist believes it has shrunk. This could be the Decapeptyl; I have no idea.
