During a very successful laparoscopy I had the mirena coil fitted. This will be five years ago in April. The combination has made my endometriosis very manageable and I feel very lucky. I’m at a point in my life where me and my partner are starting to consider starting a family and with my Mirena coil due to be removed in April then seems like a good time to start trying to conceive. That being said I am absolutely filled with dread and anxiety about my symptoms returning to how they were before. To add some context my symptoms were so bad that I would have hallucinations due to the pain. I’m really looking for some experiences to be shared so I’m not going in completely blind and will know what to expect when I have the Mirena coil removed.

What’s it like coming off the Mirena coil after 5 years to try and conceive?
I’m afraid I can’t be of any help but would also love to hear responses. I had the Mirena fitted a few weeks ago with my lap and am hoping it’ll work for me for a year to 18 months before considering trying to conceive. Good luck to you xx
I’ll certainly come back and let you know how I get on. All I can say is having the lap and the coil was truly life altering for me! Hence the anxiety now about going back to how it was before!
So far so good! Had some bleeding for 5 days after removal, very light though. After that my first period started February 6th last 5 days. I’d class my bleeding as light but it’s probably just a normal flow. March and April followed the exact pattern my period tracker (I use flo) predicted. I’m currently 4 days late for my May period, fingers crossed it’s good news! I have been using ovulation tests and have found that I ovulate later than the app suggests. Not much of an issue for me because we’re quite regular in the bedroom but for ladies who suffer pain during sex I’d recommend ovulation tests to maximise your chances and keep pain to a minimum. I should probably mention my moods have been a bit all over but not unmanageable! I hope my update is helpful? Feel free to ask me any other questions.
